00:04 tedski is there a more streamlined way to match on two grains than 'G@foo:bar and G@bat:baz'?
00:07 otter768 joined #salt
00:09 babilen tedski: What's wrong with that? I mean how could that be more streamlined?
00:10 tedski babilen: *shrug*... comma separated list?  not saying it can or should be.
00:10 tedski not saying anything is wrong with it either.
00:10 tedski just askin :)
00:10 babilen You could probably write a regular expression, but if you have to use and/or
00:10 babilen P@ that is
00:10 babilen But now for foo:bar and bat:baz
00:11 LotR I don't think regex should be considered 'more streamlined' :)
00:11 babilen no?
00:11 * babilen likes regular expressions
00:12 babilen What else did I take all these compiler and theoretical informatics courses for?!
00:12 LotR I do too
00:14 LotR but surely the example he gave is far clearer as is than as a regex
00:17 buxy whiteinge: hey, if you have a few minutes, I have two supplementaries formulas that I would like to contribute: https://github.com/rhertzog/schroot-formula and https://github.com/rhertzog/sbuild-formula
00:18 buxy they are extensions built on top of my debootstrap-formula that you recently added

04:16 teambrad1 hi all, unsuccessfully trying to use the docker states to pull an image and run it, no matter what options i'm trying i keep getting the error: NameError: global name 'msgpack' is not defined
04:16 teambrad1 eg https://gist.github.com/bradleyfalzon/235f6936b4477ca533ea
04:16 teambrad1 i've hacked it up a bit trying different combinations, so it's not an ideal sls file
04:17 teambrad1 i'm using salt-ssh for this, and i can see that msgpack python library does exist on the remote server
04:17 teambrad1 but for the life of me, i can't get past that global name not defined error with a docker.running state
04:19 teambrad1 salt "master" (that's running salt-ssh) is running 2014.7.0 on centos6, and has msgpack-python installed, and "minion" has msgpack-python (tried installing via yum and pip) but keep getting that error
04:20 teambrad1 any thoughts ? or suggestions i could try ?

17:00 tedski is there any guidance on linking formulas?  i.e. i'm writing foo-formula and it will require an apache config.  it would be nice to be able to call the apache-formula from within my formula.  including the sls is easy, but how to set the lookup pillar for the apache-formula to read from?
17:00 tedski are there any current examples of this style of formula use that i could look at?

22:06 wincyj im reading docs right now
22:07 babilen I mean that using the enter key in lieu of punctuation is suboptimal as you convey less information in a single line and it is also more likely that important parts of your question leave the scroll buffer

This however is true for only 1 out of 3 envs. First of all, to ensure I understand correctly, if there are 2 environments e.g. 'base' and 'dev' with the same pillar in each e.g. 'mytestpillar' then the environment specific pillar should overwrite the same keys found in 'base' ?
