03:54 Aleks3Y I'm curious what advantages it's adding compare to just running saltstack alone

05:24 iggy Aleks3Y: if you're dealing with just VMs, salt-cloud is probably the best bet... if you have bare metal, foreman might work out better
05:25 Aleks3Y iggy: i have a mix, basically small private cloud plus public ones
05:27 Aleks3Y basically what are the benefits will be? UI/logs/ anything else?
05:28 iggy I've never used foreman, that was jsut the thing that jumped out at me from a quick peek at the site

05:31 Aleks3Y iggy: oh cool :)
05:41 armguy What would be the best way to find why in versions-report my minion is showing an old version of Torando as well as its not even installed currently yet the version its showing remains.
05:44 armguy I think this is why I had the issues last night trying to get it talking to the master and getting the key accepted.
05:49 armguy verified with pip and package manager Tornado is not installed, its showing 3.2 as the version

16:25 Number6 Hey. I'm having issues matching minions in an init.sls config file. I want to target all servers whose FQDN is server*.example.com , but it looks like I need to list each server individually

16:43 troyready joined #salt
16:49 iggy matching should take place in your top file
16:49 mattiasr joined #salt
17:10 Number6 iggy: I'm trying to do that with this {% if grains['fqdn'] == 'server*.example.com.com' %}
17:11 Number6 But it's not expanding out the * to be server1.example.com, server2.example.com, etc
