00:26 thusoy Okay, seems like the whitelist option works, but only when fetching fresh environements. Deleting the /var/cache/salt/minion/gitfs/envs.p file and re-running highstate with the whitelist fixed the issue.

02:15 Eugene Is there a way to run highstate(or any state) from the minion-side?
02:15 Eugene My google-fu is failing
02:16 hexa- salt-call --local state.highstate
02:17 Eugene Aha, salt-call is the magic word I was missing. Thanks

09:29 Sylvain31 hi how can I call mysql._connect() from my own module? https://github.com/saltstack/salt/blob/develop/salt/modules/mysql.py#L267
09:33 Sylvain31 I would like it handle connection argument default as all mysql.* functions.
09:36 Sylvain31 http://paste.debian.net/693323
09:37 Sylvain31 tested here with some errors:      Passed invalid arguments to mysql.mysql_cleanup_users: query() takes exactly 2 arguments (1 given)

15:10 devster31 in a formula where there's an init.sls file that includes a config.sls file, do I need to import a map.jinja in both? for example in the letsencrypt-formula, could I import {% from "letsencrypt/map.jinja" import letsencrypt with context %}
15:10 devster31 in the init.sls
15:10 devster31 ?

15:15 nmadhok joined #salt
15:18 babilen devster31: Yes, but I wouldn't include the config in init.sls, but the other way round. That way users can decide if they want to manage the config or not. Use listen_in/require_in and watch_in in the config bit.
15:19 babilen And you naturally only have to import it where you need it. It doesn't make sense to do so if you don't have a single reference to it in the SLS

17:10 devster31 yes, I was using the watch_in. In some cases it doesn't really make sense leave the config unmanaged, for example if the package/service installed does nothing by default.

19:57 flowstate joined #salt
19:58 babilen But yeah, the service.running style is strongly preferred.. I wonder how explicitly that is stated in the documentation
20:00 iggy it is very explicit
20:01 iggy that's why someone went through all the formulas about 1.5 years ago to make them all the same
20:04 babilen Yeah, I remember the flurry of PRs resulting from that.
20:04 babilen It's been a while since I read the "starter" documentation so I wondered how explicit this was given devster31's question
20:05 babilen But it should be more or less the only style you see unless you are working with old legacy code

22:44 hexa- vagrant seems to use bootstrap_salt.sh to install the minion
