04:17 kurosknight hello! I'm seeing the following error with salt-cloud 2016.11.1 when using the ec2 provider: http://pastebin.com/xkraD1g1 Once I worked around that one by removing the encode call, I am seeing this error: http://pastebin.com/prKP5h4w . Anyone have any ideas?

16:25 petems Hello Salty people - Is there a salt equivalent of the Puppet Forge, Chef Supermarket, Ansible Galaxy etc.?  A community place to download pre-written code?
16:26 johnkeates saltstack-formulas on github
16:26 johnkeates i've been trying to tickle them into making SPM work: https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/32253

16:27 johnkeates also, there is salt enterprise
16:27 johnkeates if you're just starting, start here: https://github.com/saltstack-formulas

19:07 rylnd i wrote a state file that uses cmd.run to execute a script with arguments. one of the arguments is multiline. I am using "" to enclose the multiline argument, but apparently the SLS renderer doesnt like that. is there a way to hand a multiline argument to a script when using cmd.run?
19:10 Tanta use cmd.run: name: |
19:11 Tanta then indent the following line and you can use multiline input to the shell
19:11 Tanta https://github.com/saltstack/salt/issues/5480
19:11 saltstackbot [#5480][MERGED] Multiline strings tricky when used with ``file.managed`` ``contents`` param | This one is best articulated with an example. In short, if the `contents` param of `file.managed` is a function call that returns a multi-line string the template indentation is wrong....
19:11 Tanta this page has some examples of the jinja multiline strings

19:26 rylnd thanks. found that page too and it didnt work for my example. but i found a different and better way. thanks :-)
19:32 rylnd but maybe you have an idea for another issue of mine. i deploy my VMs at digitalocean with salt-cloud. no problem, all instances are deployed properly. when i change the ssh daemon port afterwards, salt will not be able to connect anymore, right? because the initial deployment was via port 22. is there a way for me to update the port without removing and re-adding the minion?

20:06 rylnd doesnt it?
20:06 rylnd i think i am confusing myself right now. i should take a break

20:50 iggy rylnd: lol, it's all good... for reference the default mechanism for salt minions to talk to the master (that's the direction of the traffic, not master -> minion) is zeromq over ports 4505/4506
20:51 iggy there is however salt-ssh which talks over ssh, if you were using that, you'd have to adjust the port numbers on the master (specifically in the salt-ssh roster)

21:43 rylnd iggy OCD for sure
21:44 iggy try `{%- endfor -%}`
21:44 rylnd let me see if that works. i tried so many things the last half hour, not sure if i tested that
21:45 ronnix joined #salt
21:47 rylnd iggy that gives me the "ConnectTo = foo" concatenated, without any newline at all. But also no additional line at the end ;-)
21:49 iggy my desire to not have to type/read so many -'s in my jinja usually outweighs my desire to trim excess white space
