00:21 dxiri hello everyone, question, I want to raise my file descriptor limits, I have a file in /etc/security/limits.d/increasefd.conf
00:22 dxiri when I look in the terminal I can see the descriptors set as the value I want
00:22 dxiri but when runniung cmd.run its a different number, why?
00:22 dxiri *running
00:32 whytewolf xMopxShell: it should remove files that are not in the source. or files that are labeled in a require
00:32 xMopxShell hmm, ok. When I'm back at work ill fiddle a little more and probably file a bug
00:32 whytewolf dxiri: most likely because systemd is changing it on you somehow
00:32 zerocool_ joined #salt
00:33 xMopxShell oh hey
00:33 xMopxShell whytewolf: i've had your dyn_salt_top repo open in my browser for like, 2 weeks. Gotta find time to try that...
00:33 dxiri whytewolf: how?
00:34 whytewolf hehe, dyn_salt_top is just a quick hack i threw together
00:34 xMopxShell the 'insanity is fun' headline draws me in :)
00:36 whytewolf to be honest i never tested the pillar settings in the top either. i actually use it for building up a top based on my orchestrations
00:37 whytewolf dxiri: here is a quick article you might want to read about limits and systemd https://fredrikaverpil.github.io/2016/04/27/systemd-and-resource-limits/
00:39 * whytewolf almost can't wait till the 2nd

00:40 dxiri that's exactly my problem! thanks a lot dude
00:41 dxiri is there a way I can manipulate systemd with salt?
00:41 dxiri (the descriptors I mean)
00:42 whytewolf file.manage a drop-in file
00:43 whytewolf humm, although i don't know if salt does a daemon-reload if a drop in is created
00:44 rathier joined #salt
00:45 whytewolf not sure which distro you are in but if it is redhat/centos based. here is more info about dropins https://coreos.com/os/docs/latest/using-systemd-drop-in-units.html
00:45 whytewolf i need to read better. thats coreos not centos
00:55 dxiri lol
00:55 dxiri yep I'm on Centos 7
00:58 dxiri will read up on that, thanks for the info and the help!

11:22 rgrundstrom It seems like my If states does not work in this case: https://gist.github.com/anonymous/b40a74bedee1399e8473a557a9464e0c#file-gistfile1-txt
11:22 rgrundstrom Any ideas why?

12:12 Neighbour rgrundstrom: Yes, it looks like you're expecting os_type to be a jinja variable, but it isn't
12:14 rgrundstrom Neighbour: I  found the problem...
12:14 justanotheruser joined #salt
12:15 rgrundstrom Neighbour: It did not like the "or"... Dont know why tho
12:21 schasi joined #salt
12:27 izibi joined #salt
12:30 Neighbour rgrundstrom: 'or' is an operator for conditions, not values
12:30 Neighbour rgrundstrom: You can use   `os_type in ['value1', 'value2', ...]` instead
12:30 Neighbour or use `os_type == 'value1' or os_type == 'value2'`
12:30 Neighbour (without the ``)
12:40 rgrundstrom Neighbour: ahh ok thnx

15:08 Neighbour rgrundstrom: How about fetching 'server:settings:set_snmp_settings' from pillar once, and saving it in a variable (for example, foo), and then referencing the subkeys with foo.user, foo.sha, foo.aes etc? (or is that not the part you were thinking about?)
15:10 Neighbour correction, you would get the subkeys with foo.set_snmp_user, as they are in the pillar

17:29 shbst Hey, does anyone have an example of pulling code from a git server running ssh on a non default port?  This "host:port:\n\t ssh_known_hosts:" syntax isn't working for me.  Thanks
17:37 pualj joined #salt
17:44 shbst looks like per the docs, I just needed to add a port parameter https://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/ref/states/all/salt.states.ssh_known_hosts.html

18:03 JawnAuz The docs reference file.search syntax being " file.search /etc/crontab 'mymaintenance.sh' " -- How would I properly referenced this in a Jinja if-statement? It's telling me my syntax is wrong when I render my sls.
