10:11 mike25de_ is it possible to add a delay between 2 execution states? i have my state file which installs some java crap... in step 1 ... and i need to wait a bit (2min) until java is running so i can start step 2. Is that possible?!

11:01 DanklyNight Don't know if it would work, but worth a try
11:03 babilen mike25de_: Is this a proper service that could communicate that it is done? Could you trigger an event when it is?
11:05 babilen service.running accepts init_delay for example ... would be best to use a unit file with "Type=notify" and notify from the service itself though
11:06 babilen salt.wait_for_event is another nice approach

For example in the DB I have env: ccc but the pillar ends up return ccc: ccc even with depth set to 0. Is this expected behavior? Why wouldn't the column name return as the key and the row the value? 2017.7.1 on RHEL 7, postgresql 9.2.

19:57 jbkc85_ Hi all, I am sorta lost and new to Salt...but here goes my question: I am attempting to make a default set of variables (and only variables) to load into a state file
19:58 bildz ok
19:58 bildz lets see what you have in pastebin
19:58 jbkc85_ Basically I want to make a file that I load up and it gives a dictionary set of values, but for some reason I can't figure out why its not letting me.  My SLS State file is using 'include: - myfile', and I have a pillar set up for 'myfile/init.sls' that has a dictionary
19:58 jbkc85_ Sure thing
19:58 bildz just define everything in jinja at the top and call it
19:59 bildz or did you want to inherit through from another process?
20:00 jbkc85_ https://gist.github.com/jbkc85/fcee5a9064dd4b208cd0134b19ecf581
20:00 jbkc85_ Well, I'm quite uneducated about Salt, so excuse my ignorance....b
20:00 jbkc85_ But, I just want to pull in those variables to a state
20:01 jbkc85_ Because I basically want to ensure a server has a certain amount of things set up on it
20:01 jbkc85_ Thats it
20:01 jbkc85_ Like, sorta a documentation layout of sorts for projects
20:02 jbkc85_ And I'm trying to push that down from the master
20:02 ecdhe joined #salt
20:03 bildz yeah havent attempted this yet and am curious to see it working
20:08 jbkc85_ interesting
20:08 jbkc85_ So I had to push the pillar to the minion...
20:08 bildz yeah always
20:08 bildz any pillar changes require a saltutil.pillar_refresh
20:08 jbkc85_ yea I wasn't aware of that
20:09 jbkc85_ so there isn't a way to do this without the pillar on the minion?
20:10 jbkc85_ Seems a bit redundant to have it there and at master..
