12:47 timg__ hi, i am new to salt. when i run salt '*' state.apply how can i see the verbose mode (want to know what exacly happens)
12:58 babilen timg__: If you want to see salt applying the states, running commands and whatnot, you could run "salt-call -ldebug state.apply" on the minion
12:58 timg__ babilen: thanks
12:58 babilen Is that what you're after?

23:09 AstraLuma is there a magic incantation to just apply a state file?
23:09 zer0def AstraLuma: `state.sls`?
23:10 AstraLuma like, here's an SLS file, what script/args do I call to apply it?
23:10 AstraLuma i'm looking at handling installation of something into extmods on the master
23:11 zer0def you want to apply $sls_file on master, then?
23:11 AstraLuma yeah
23:12 zer0def salt-call --local state.sls <sls.path> and restart the master, i guess
23:12 AstraLuma but without assuming the master has a minion, and preferably without importing it into the state tree
23:17 zer0def well, `salt-call` is a part of debian's `salt-common` package, so it should be available if you have master installed; you can always fall back to salt-ssh
23:19 AstraLuma it's more the "copy this file into your state tree" that bothers me, but I don't think that's avoidable
