22:29 stooj Is there something special I need to do now to escape colons in yaml? My state has suddenly stopped working with the following error: https://dpaste.de/KdtS
22:33 hemebond stooj: Have you tried with just one set of quotes?
22:34 hemebond Normally if the colon does not have a space afterwards it's not parsed by YAML.
22:34 stooj hemebond: Yeah, it originally had single quotes. I'll try both again for sanity...
22:37 stooj hemebond: Just tried single quotes on their own and double quotes on their own. Still getting the same error
22:39 hemebond Same error?
22:39 hemebond Have you pasted the state somewhere?
22:40 hemebond Are you using |json in the state?
22:42 stooj hemebond: Here's the state: https://dpaste.de/5wCa
22:43 stooj I'm not using |json, nope
22:45 hemebond Okay, use {{ stooj_dotfiles.gpgconfig|json }}
22:49 stooj witchcraft! It works! Should I be passing yaml though a json filter as standard?
23:03 stooj Well, it works anyway. Thanks for sorting that out for me hemebond - very much appreciated
23:04 hemebond Yes. While the pillar might be in YAML, it's already parsed into a Python object when you go to use it in a state.
23:04 hemebond So you were printing out a Python object into your state.
23:04 hemebond However YAML also supports JSON syntax so using the JSON filter will make sure it's printed in a supported way.
23:10 stooj Grand. I follow. Thanks again hemebond
