04:51 mtj FROGGS, yes, yes, - like the idea :p
04:52 mtj fyi all - some interesting SDL info here … -> http://samatkins.co.uk/blog/2012/04/25/sdl-blitting-to-transparent-surfaces/
04:52 mtj i have this exact problem now  :)
04:53 mtj but, great to find some info on it...
04:55 mtj i have experienced some WTF! moments with SDL, in the last year - but luckily found work-arounds
04:56 mtj the catch was - i didnt understand *why* my work-around code actually fixed the problem… :/
04:58 mtj (my problems have been only been with 'surface' stuff, everything else '"just worked")
05:21 mtj so heres a crazy question
05:21 mtj … based on the info in that url above, does perl_sdl detect/handle the  'SDL_BIG_ENDIAN' ness of the system?
05:21 mtj ...or is that something i should be detecting and handling myself?
05:22 mtj i am assuming perl_sdl does the right thing :)

09:34 FROGGS mtj: the endianess should be deteted by libSDL when it gets compiled... I am not sure SDL_Perl does something about it at all
09:52 mtj hmm, ok
09:54 mtj i'll try to confirm that, as i bumble along :)
09:56 mtj just learning about alpha, masks and transparency for surfaces, at the mo...
09:57 mtj i have a few little transparency bugs, i am working through now
10:36 FROGGS mtj: looks at the documentation of SDL::Video::blit_surface, it explains pretty well how transparency is handled
