16:13 simong Is there a document that outlines any best practices for when you're writing an app that will use the headers (so no REMOTE_USER / environment vars) ?
16:24 simong I also don't see a way to not use request headers when you're dealing with things that are long lived http servers

16:28 simong Shibboleth seems to push the "Use environment variables to pass attributes to your application" pretty hard
16:28 simong in fact, in a couple of places it even states that you shouldn't use http headers
16:28 simong but our application is not running within apache, it has it's own HTTP server
