17:22 semi i'm looking to switch to shibboleth from mod_mellon but i was wondering if anyone could tell me if shibboleth can specify a  AssertionConsumerServiceURL in our AuthnRequest posts
17:23 semi seems like the only way to do with with mod_mellon is to patch the source code so definitely looking to switch
17:47 pdurbin semi: hmm. mod_mellon. I just heard about that here: Leveraging Platform Identities for Web Applications https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B3tfpNCVjJdCYnNEbks1RXBkdDg/edit?usp=sharing
17:48 pdurbin (slide 31)
17:48 pdurbin balo: have you heard of mod_auth_mellon?
17:48 balo uh, no, sorry :/
17:48 balo what does it do?
17:49 pdurbin no worries. just curious. it's what redhat is using instead of mod_shib
17:49 pdurbin in sshd: https://fedorahosted.org/sssd/
17:49 balo oh, didn't know that but sounds interesting
17:50 pdurbin sounds like semi is looking to switch from mod_mellon
17:50 semi yeah
17:51 pdurbin semi: are you using sssd?
17:51 semi i actually like it, it's just that it wont work with the only IDP i'm using, and i really don't want to have to patch it and deal with updates
17:52 semi not currently
17:52 pdurbin ok
17:52 pdurbin semi: what's the IdP? Shibboleth? ADFS?
17:54 semi not sure, judging by their error message its something windows hosted
17:55 pdurbin hmm. so maybe ADFS
17:55 * pdurbin shakes fist
17:59 semi it reminds me of trying to implement a SOAP client-- where you follow the spec, the server follows the spec, but oh look the server is in java so its not going to work with your non-java client
18:00 semi (or .NET for that matter)
18:02 pdurbin hooray for interop
