00:44 SparkyProjects I would not use electronics for a failsafe, sure you can use them for  a first line of defense stop, but i'd rather see a good electro-mechanical system for the final stop.

01:04 SparkyProjects Injektion, get a relay with a 24 volt coil, be sure the contacts are rated for line voltage, one set of contact for mains, other set for control
01:04 SparkyProjects Personally i would have 2 relays, parallel the coils, use a low current relay for control, and a high current relay for line, you could even make the line relay double pole switching

01:04 eadthem injektion k   take a lm317  wire it for say .5 amp constnat currnt   then wire up another lm317 for say 6.1V      set that up inside a spacius server cabnet with a 6V SLA battery   say 6 amp hour ish
01:05 eadthem then take a 12V adapter and plug it in to the server strip   set a relay up so that once its on   it will hold itslef on       stick a 75dB to 100dB siren/buzzer on the relay to the SLA battery  via a normaly closed contact on the relay)
01:06 eadthem when the power goes out  the relay would reset  and would not reinable itself when power is restored    the siren would sound until the SLA battery drained( days)   and would charge itslef from the PC power supply whenever it was on

01:44 Seroster SparkyProjects, I was thinking about cleaning the head up, maybe temper it,  use a pretty flexible glue to keep the head on the handle, beat a wedge into the handle (as its supposed to be) and then drill a hole straight thru the metal in the head and the wood, first a small one for the bolt/screw and then a bigger one to keep the head concealed.

13:17 CaptainBoden it's not quite that simple, and it wasn't always the case. It used to be you had to apply (we did 4 times) and get approved as a partner, which was a nightmare, you had to have a LOT of subs, and a serious collection of quality videos to get it.

14:18 minifig404 I'm working on repairing a Tektronix 2235 analog scope, but the service manual says I should be using a 15-25w soldering iron, and the one I have is a non-adjustable 40w. I'm guessing I should get a new iron, but is there anything in particular I should look for?

15:05 SparkyProjects There are 2 ways a capacitor is used on a motor (generally), one is as a start capacitor where a cenrifugal switch disconneccts it once up to speed, the other is as a phase delay device so it acts like a second phase to cause rotation
15:05 SparkyProjects With power applied, spin the motor, will it continue to run, try in both directions, if it will spin in each direction, suspect the capacitor circuit, are you sure you made the right connections, some motors have to have links added to denote direction, refer to instructions
