00:00 Seroster Helped my mother in laws friend move the other day
00:00 Seroster Two garbage bags FULL of electronics
00:01 Seroster I think I got at least 30 transformers
00:02 Thermoelectric Lucky
00:02 Thermoelectric and argh, stupid soldering iron bit me. :/
00:04 Seroster Bite back
00:04 Seroster Preferably with an anvil
00:04 Cprossu_Netbook lol
00:04 Seroster Whatcha soldering mate?
00:05 Thermoelectric Just unsoldering one of those filters or chokes.
00:05 Seroster oo?
00:06 Thermoelectric You know in electronics where the mains hits the board, it goes through a 4 pinned, two coil transformer type thingy?
00:06 Seroster A filter?
00:06 Thermoelectric Yeah
00:07 speedrunnerG55 Alright
00:07 Seroster How big?
00:08 Thermoelectric 40mm high, 35 wide, 25 deep
00:08 Seroster Damn, what did it come from?
00:08 Thermoelectric an old emac
00:08 Seroster Got any idea of the gauge and ammount of turns?
00:08 Thermoelectric one of those macs with a built in CRT
00:08 Seroster I got a
00:08 Thermoelectric Not really
00:09 speedrunnerG55 The guy at micro center told me to get a lynksys card. And he fixed my boot issue. So i went to customer services and expecter thed swap it out of my computer but he gave me a screw driver and told me to...eh w/e. So now im going to try the lynksys
00:09 Seroster I got a filter to a 3phase frequenzy generator. Sixteen turns of 4 or 6 gauge
00:09 speedrunnerG55 Wish me luck Cprossu
00:09 speedrunnerG55 Lol
00:09 Seroster Toroidal filter, fucking huge, at least 10 cm across
00:09 Thermoelectric Oh nice, that's a big filter.
00:10 Seroster Indeed
00:10 Seroster Got any plans for the one you are working on now?
00:10 Seroster 3 available answers. "Yes, I gonna do X" "Nope... Handy part" and "Copper, bitch!"
00:11 Thermoelectric Not a clue. Just trying to reduce my PCB count, and it'll probably be useful at a later date.
00:11 Thermoelectric ...What do they filter?
00:11 Seroster Lol, handy part it is
00:11 Seroster electricity
00:11 Seroster They smooth out the sinus wave
00:11 Thermoelectric Ah.
00:11 Seroster Ever hooked an oscope to a mains outlet?
00:12 Thermoelectric Nope
00:12 Thermoelectric Don't have one, hehe.
00:12 Seroster The sinus wave is rarely a good smooth one
00:12 Seroster Me neither
00:12 Seroster But mains got a LOT of inteference
00:12 Thermoelectric Would it clean up interference?
00:12 Seroster Indeed
00:12 Seroster And it does limit current
00:13 Thermoelectric Interesting
00:14 injektion joined #thegeekgroup
00:14 Seroster Short the second coil to itself and you got an inductive ballast
00:14 Thermoelectric I wonder how much current they'd be good for.
00:14 Thermoelectric Be back soon, breakfast.
00:14 Seroster Two ways to find out. Count the windings and do math
00:14 Seroster Or just test it
00:14 speedrunnerG55 Im about to power o
00:14 speedrunnerG55 On
00:15 * speedrunnerG55 crosses fingers

00:21 tggmc so I'm just now realizing that the TV600 was built less than an hour from where I live....
00:21 tggmc (I always forget that Wheatstone used to be based in Syracuse)
00:24 Thermoelectric Back.
00:24 Thermoelectric Go visit the manufacturers then, tggmc :)
00:24 injektion TIL how short life really is
00:24 tggmc Thermoelectric: well, they're no longer in Syracuse
00:24 tggmc they're in (North?) Carolina
00:24 injektion Such a cruel reality
00:24 Thermoelectric That bites.
00:24 tggmc anyway, mono output working. Now to run a stereo feed to the mackie!
00:25 Thermoelectric :D
00:26 tggmc (by way of a 66 block or twelve)
00:27 injektion Life is too short to abstain from what it can offer a person

00:38 Nazzy tonsofpcs, that is, indeed, a fancy krone tool :p
00:38 tggmc <3 krone
00:38 tggmc we're using 66 though
00:39 Sgt_Lemming Krone is awesome
00:39 tggmc i'm cleaning one now that i think was once hooked to this board
00:39 Sgt_Lemming fiddly, but awesome
00:39 Nazzy I think we've filled a couple of hundred patch panels in this place so far
00:39 Nazzy lotta kroning
00:40 Sgt_Lemming what sorta cable into it though?
00:40 tggmc send your spare punches here!
00:40 Sgt_Lemming I've done a lot of cat6 and it's a pita
00:40 Nazzy here? solid core 5e low smoke
00:40 tggmc Sgt_Lemming: the mic prewires are stranded. The ones that i'm making will be solid cat5
00:41 Nazzy it's pot luck if the stuff we order in has powder in it, a draw string, or neither
00:41 Sgt_Lemming yeah, CAT6 has the bastard wire seperator in it, makes it nice and inflexible
00:41 tggmc uh, you can cut that back...
00:42 Sgt_Lemming yeah, it's still a pita to deal with
00:42 Nazzy at least it's not shielded as well, right? :p
00:42 Sgt_Lemming indeed
00:42 tggmc but yea, looks like this is 20 or 22 AWG stranded
00:42 tggmc cat5 i have is 24
00:42 Nazzy or worse... coax *shudder*
00:42 tggmc what's wrong with coax?
00:43 Nazzy the stranded wires around the outside
00:44 tggmc i'm not suer how that's a problem
00:44 tggmc uh... the outside is the signal ground...
00:44 Nazzy no, I mean it's a pain to deal with
00:45 tggmc in what manner?
00:45 NeWtoz oh hi
00:45 tggmc i'd rather terminate a BNC on mini RG59 than a cat6 w/ TIA 56whateverthelastdigitis
00:45 KB3NZQ to unbraid it
00:46 tggmc why are you unbraidign it?
00:46 Nazzy the ones where it's sort of plaited around the outside so you have to faff around to try and get through it to deal with the inner insulation?
00:46 * Bat-Mobile wonders if he missed part of injektion's conversation
00:46 KB3NZQ to solder on the connector (xlr)
00:46 injektion No Bat-Mobile
00:46 tggmc erm... why are you putting an XLR on coax?
00:46 tggmc Bat-Mobile: it works!!!! :D
00:47 Nazzy maybe I'm just over hating having not dealt with the stuff in so long
00:47 Bat-Mobile tggmc: what works?
00:47 KB3NZQ sorry thought you were meaning the microphone wire that had the braided shield
00:47 tggmc the tv-600
00:47 Bat-Mobile woot!
00:47 Bat-Mobile grats!
00:47 tggmc i still have no clue where the spare parts box went though
00:49 Nazzy though I remember encountering, once long ago, somthing that I think was high current twin and earth that had a fairly solid compacted powder as it's insulator, with 1-2mm conductors and ... I think it might have been solid copper shielding
00:49 jeffrey_ joined #thegeekgroup
00:49 Seroster Nazzy, you just rip the coax ground brading off, takes about a second, pull it to one side and cut it off with anything sharp you have nearby, How could that be a problem? =P
00:49 Nazzy that stuff was plain nasty to look at, I'm glad I didn't have to work with it
00:49 tggmc each of the modules has an insert bus. the inputs are bypassed by default and have a button to enable them. the outputs have the insert 'in-line' unless a (single) jumper is soldered on inside. I built a loopback for mono to test the theory that that was what was killing it. it was.
00:50 Nazzy Seroster, the reattaching it to the connector afterward?

01:04 lazerman121 im back hi again
01:04 Nazzy SparkyProjects, sounds about right
01:04 Bat-Mobile welcome back
01:04 Cprossu_Netbook tonsofpcs got the wheatstone going
01:04 Cprossu_Netbook it needs cabling and terminations running to other parts of the mixer externally
01:04 Cprossu_Netbook is the short story form of it
01:04 egrsteve not much, I found wifi in the middle of nowhere
01:05 egrsteve sounds like a fun time
01:05 SparkyProjects Ah, that might explain why there were modules that didn't plug into the bus
01:06 egrsteve I know there was some selector moduals that had to be looped back to other channels ect
01:07 LeadHead We had first fire today Cprossu
01:07 LeadHead on the MAF/Sequential EEC-IV
01:07 egrsteve I hope he can at least get a clear plan of what needs to happen with it if he is unable to finnish it

01:13 egrsteve the fact they were in MC and not bothering to switch it
01:13 egrsteve unless they were that preoccupied
01:14 SparkyProjects Seems to me they are saving all the good stuff for YT
01:14 egrsteve tggmc anyone in there?
01:14 egrsteve maybe
01:15 egrsteve but I doubt they would intentionally keep the stream out
01:15 Cprossu_Netbook egrsteve long story
01:15 egrsteve at least give it the MDH or lobby
01:15 SparkyProjects Well it's a waste of a stream channel to be looking at the road all the time, we could do that on traffic cam
01:15 egrsteve don't look at the sky all day
01:16 tonsofpcs egrsteve: hi
01:16 tonsofpcs it works!!!

01:19 speedrunnerG55 How
01:20 speedrunnerG55 Should i try to solder a wire to the ends?
01:20 CaptainBoden totally...and get video, lol
01:20 LeadHead Cprossu_Netbook: you there?
01:21 Cprossu_Netbook yeah
01:21 Cprossu_Netbook what's up, LeadHead?
01:21 LeadHead We got the truck running today
01:21 egrsteve speedrunnerg55 is it a broken trace that you need to bridge?
01:21 LeadHead sort of
01:21 LeadHead on the new EEC-IV
01:21 Sgt_Lemming CaptainBoden http://i34.photobucket.com/albums/d149/bone_kero/CIMG2658s.jpg
01:21 speedrunnerG55 Yes
01:21 egrsteve is there solder mask still on the trace?
01:22 speedrunnerG55 Mask? Its broken in two
01:22 LeadHead The problem is that it still thinks it's running a 302 V8 with 19lb/hr injectors with a 13726548 firing order
01:22 speedrunnerG55 The copper
01:22 Cprossu_Netbook oh dear
01:22 Cprossu_Netbook actually I read somewhere
01:22 LeadHead when we have a 460 with 36lb/hr injectors and a 15426378 firing order
01:22 Cprossu_Netbook reseat the quarterhorse
01:22 egrsteve I realize that I ment the mask on the trace around it
01:23 LeadHead the problem we are having is that
01:23 LeadHead we can read the existing factory tune
01:23 LeadHead we can modify it to get the baseline 460 stuff
01:23 speedrunnerG55 There are these two pieces of copper sticking out
01:23 LeadHead save it to a file
01:23 LeadHead we write the file to the quarterhorse
01:23 LeadHead than the EEC goes into failsafe mode
01:23 Cprossu_Netbook hrmmm
01:23 LeadHead and the truck runs like absolute shit
01:23 LeadHead failsafe mode being the CEL stays lit
01:23 LeadHead and the fuel pump always run
01:24 LeadHead *pump always runs
01:24 egrsteve if you lay the pieces of copper flat how far apart are they?
01:24 speedrunnerG55 From where they connected right above a connection pin to the mothaboard
01:24 egrsteve and how big are the pieces
01:24 LeadHead if we set the quarter horse to factory tune, it actually idles somewhat okay
01:24 LeadHead it will start to drop a cylinder because the injector firing order is off
01:24 LeadHead but if you rev it, it'll hit on all 8
01:24 speedrunnerG55 Like the size of copper wires in a nnetwork cabke
01:24 speedrunnerG55 Cable
01:25 egrsteve ok, how much of a gap will you have to bridge?
01:25 egrsteve can it be done with solder only or will it need a piece of wire as well?
01:25 speedrunnerG55 Like 1cm. And a 90 degree angle
01:26 wannabe1987 Bat-Mobile - it looks yellowish pinkish outside...same by you?
01:26 egrsteve so you will need a piece of wire then
01:26 speedrunnerG55 Yes
01:26 Bat-Mobile wannabe1987: sort of orange yellow, yeah
01:26 Bat-Mobile it's pretty cool
01:26 Cprossu_Netbook there's a failure in your binary then, LeadHead
01:26 Cprossu_Netbook what it is I do not know yet
01:26 wannabe1987 yeah...last times we've had these colors we had to sit near the chalkboards with our hands over ourheads...
01:26 egrsteve if the solder mask around it is not damaged other that where the trace is gone it will make fixing it easier
01:26 Cprossu_Netbook can you upload it and I'll d/l the editor and look? @ LeadHead
01:26 LeadHead well the first time I tried
01:26 LeadHead I modified a binary I downloaded
01:27 LeadHead and oh lord
01:27 LeadHead It sounded like we had a cam with 300 degrees of overlap in it
01:27 egrsteve oh wow, it is yellowis pink outside
01:27 LeadHead it was hitting on like 3-4 cylinders maybe every few hundred rotations
01:27 LeadHead rofl
01:27 Cprossu_Netbook cool I just desoda-d my laptop keyboard
01:27 Cprossu_Netbook lol you had the 'insta 2.3
01:28 Cprossu_Netbook setting enabled
01:28 LeadHead so we pulled the factory tune from the EEC
01:28 speedrunnerG55 Should i take a pucture and send a link? Idk what you are talking about when you say the mask
01:28 egrsteve that looks a bit nasty is indiana
01:28 LeadHead and modified that
01:28 egrsteve .radar
01:28 BotSteve egrsteve: http://radar.weather.gov/radar.php?rid=grr&product=NCR&overlay=11101111&loop=yes
01:28 LeadHead but it's not verking
01:28 Cprossu_Netbook did anyone upload a base 460?
01:28 LeadHead there are no base 460 MAF SEFI
01:28 speedrunnerG55 egrsteve: ^
01:28 LeadHead Ford never offered such a combination
01:29 LeadHead and I don't know of anyone else doing this
01:29 Bat-Mobile wannabe1987: I think that we'll be ok, that color is usually just sunset + storms
01:29 egrsteve the mask is the colored coating on top of the copper traces
01:29 wannabe1987 good!
01:29 Bat-Mobile when it goes green is when it's time to worry
01:30 Nazzy I hate windows and I hate malware twats and I hate being the one that ends up having to deal with their shit
01:30 wannabe1987 lol yeah...i've been keeping an eye on it
01:30 SparkyProjects Speedrunner, imagine a bit of copperclad PCB with bare copper, but with spray paint on it, the paint is the mask
01:30 egrsteve thanks sparky
01:30 speedrunnerG55 No its not there
01:30 LeadHead It was cute watching the 302 factory tune's adaptive strategy
01:30 LeadHead trying to make that engine run
01:31 egrsteve so you have a small area with bare copper on either side of the damage?
01:31 speedrunnerG55 Yes
01:31 egrsteve are there loose flaps of copper?
01:32 speedrunnerG55 Yes
01:32 egrsteve how big are the flaps?
01:32 speedrunnerG55 1 is like 3mm and the other is like 1 cm
01:33 speedrunnerG55 And a 3 mm gap
01:33 speedrunnerG55 Thats rough estamates
01:33 egrsteve ok
01:33 egrsteve can you glue them back down w/o getting glue on the top side then solder a small piece of wire over the gap?
01:34 speedrunnerG55 Posible
01:34 egrsteve a tiny bit of super glue might work, you don't want a loose flap when you try to solder becasue it is very easy to break
01:34 speedrunnerG55 Ly
01:34 speedrunnerG55 Ok..
01:35 egrsteve if you get glue on top it can be carefully sanded, scraped filed ect if you have to
01:35 egrsteve then use a piece of wire to bridge it
01:36 SparkyProjects Just a hint, put some tape on the component side across the break, get some epoxy and fill the gap, lay wires on the epoxy on the copper side (making sure not to get epoxy on the copper tracks) this will also hold the wires in place for soldering once the epoxy is dry
01:36 egrsteve strip a piece of wire about an inch use somethink like cat 5 or phone wire
01:36 speedrunnerG55 Kk. Ill use old phone line
01:36 egrsteve solder to one side cut to length then solder the other side down
01:37 LeadHead Cprossu_Netbook: https://dl-web.dropbox.com/get/Public/Image0129.jpg?w=aa108fe9
01:37 LeadHead Like the MAF setup? :-P
01:37 egrsteve so you have something to hold on the first side and it held in place on the second
01:37 speedrunnerG55 Oh. Its impitriant for it to cool downb
01:37 speedrunnerG55 ?
01:37 wannabe1987 Bat-Mobile our watch is canceled
01:38 egrsteve yes also try to prevent the other joint from heating back up while sodlering
01:38 Bat-Mobile wannabe1987: good stuff. pretty sky though
01:38 wannabe1987 yeah. drew just noted about it. can't see much, apartment buidlings in the way :(
01:38 egrsteve place a piece of metal across the wire between them like the tip of a small screw driver
01:39 egrsteve it will help sink the heat away from the first solder joint
01:39 LeadHead Also, just ignore all the red and black wires running everywhere, those'll be put into wireloom and taped up once we confirm we didn't screw up any of the 15 or so wires we had to add/change around
01:39 LeadHead in the main EEC connector
01:39 speedrunnerG55 I have a haet sink i can clamp on it
01:39 egrsteve that works too

04:13 speedrunnerG55 joined #thegeekgroup
04:13 Cprossu2 is now known as Cprossu
04:13 LeadHead rom configs?
04:13 Cprossu as in the KB
04:14 LeadHead EEC-IV are ~56k
04:14 Cprossu like 56K vs 64K
04:14 LeadHead iirc.
04:14 Cprossu and 4 bank vs 2 bank
04:14 LeadHead 4 bank vs 2 bank is an EEC-V thing
04:14 LeadHead IV is single bank
04:14 Cprossu ok
04:14 LeadHead quaterhorse also works on EEC-Vs
04:14 LeadHead thats why
04:14 Cprossu and the original computer on the car is what?
04:14 Cprossu for the 460
04:15 LeadHead original truck computer is a very unsuported speed-density (map) based thing
04:15 LeadHead new computer is "HOG1" catch code
04:15 Cprossu so when you said you tried to upload the original computer's info
04:15 Cprossu what did you mean?

04:16 LeadHead h
04:16 Psi left #thegeekgroup
04:16 LeadHead oh
04:16 Cprossu you know when it went into failsafe
04:16 LeadHead I meant I pulled the "HOG1"s default built in calibration
04:16 LeadHead and saved it as a file
04:16 LeadHead cause the calibration I downloaded didn't agree with the computer
04:17 Cprossu ok
04:18 Cprossu also may I just ask why you aren't doing like a map with a 3 bar sensor type config?
04:19 Cprossu because then you could use some of the old code for testing
04:19 LeadHead because map tuning with EEC-IV is a slut
04:19 Cprossu ok then
04:19 LeadHead and there is another problem
04:19 LeadHead every EEC-IV revision shuffled around the code
04:20 LeadHead so the MAX_RPM scalar in a 91
04:20 LeadHead Mustang EEC-IV might be at address 2952
04:20 LeadHead in this 95 "HOG1" MAF truck comptuer
04:20 LeadHead it could be at address 1973
04:21 LeadHead so there are "strategy" files, and "calibration" files
04:21 LeadHead Strategy files translate the addresses into meaningful tables, and calibrations populate those tables with values

04:38 Sgt_Lemming that is not necessarily something to be proud of cow_patty_moo :-P
04:39 cow_patty_moo and why is that...
04:39 exor674 I'd probably be eating something better
04:39 exor674 except yaknow, it's 11:30
04:39 exor674 and mcd's was all that was open
04:39 Sgt_Lemming if he's over 18 and still working at McD's it's kinda sad
04:39 LeadHead back Cprossu
04:40 cow_patty_moo hey it pays money
04:40 LeadHead What's also becoming apparent is the sophistication of the EEC-IV despite what some might think *cough*
04:40 LeadHead This particular EEC-IV has 578 different scalars and functions
04:40 LeadHead just to make the engine run right and the transmission shift
04:40 * speedrunnerG55 pokes wannabe1987
04:40 LeadHead and later EEC-Vs had 4x the memory
04:40 speedrunnerG55 eh w/e

04:52 speedrunnerG55 D:
04:52 Cprossu LeadHead are you running batch fire ignition?
04:52 LeadHead ignition?
04:52 * speedrunnerG55 ghasps
04:52 * cow_patty_moo puts on ear protection tickles wannabe1987
04:53 Cprossu on the 302 tune
04:53 wannabe1987 its ok, lee, exor674 hit you...HARD for tickling me

04:53 Kafka is now known as Lanther
04:53 * speedrunnerG55 puts a tickle proof coating on wannabe1987
04:53 Cprossu as in 2 cylinders spark at the same time, LeadHead
04:53 Cprossu one is a waste spark
04:53 LeadHead dizzy.
04:54 Cprossu so the duraspark then
04:54 LeadHead TFI
04:54 LeadHead not duraspark
04:54 Cprossu you were saying the firing order was different
04:54 Cprossu how does that come into play here?
04:54 wannabe1987 my dad would tickle us and i hated it then, still do
04:54 LeadHead The ignition system runs independent of the fuel injection
04:54 cow_patty_moo im so bored
04:54 Cprossu but the fuel injection is TFI though
04:54 Cprossu 2 injectors right?
04:54 Cprossu no
04:54 LeadHead no
04:54 Cprossu *dumb*
04:54 LeadHead sequential multiport
04:54 Cprossu lol
04:55 Cprossu ok
04:55 LeadHead the TFI module on the distributor
04:55 LeadHead just sends pulses to the computer knowing when each cylinder is at TDC
04:55 LeadHead one tooth is slightly smaller indiciated TDC #1
04:55 Cprossu so... why not wire up the fuel injectors to match the 302 firing order?
04:55 LeadHead because that's ghetto, and is just band-aiding the problem
04:55 Cprossu so is your cardboard intake
04:56 LeadHead but thats not permanent
04:56 Cprossu neither is this
04:56 LeadHead but would would that do for me?
04:56 LeadHead It will hold an "okay" idle using the 302 injection pulses
04:57 Cprossu it should be ok once you get the injectors sorted out so you can get a baseline
04:57 LeadHead the problem is the quarterhorse just doesn't seem to be taking a tune
04:57 Cprossu then from the baseline you can build the real config
04:57 LeadHead besides the firing order
04:57 LeadHead I tried setting the rev limit to 1200
04:57 Cprossu in other words get it working from the right '302' firing order so you can see how it looks
04:57 LeadHead just to see if it was working
04:57 LeadHead tach soared right past 2000
04:57 LeadHead before I let off
04:58 Cprossu do you have any of the binaries and what do I need to view it?
04:58 LeadHead you need BinaryEditor
04:58 LeadHead ahacb strategy
04:58 LeadHead lemme get the links
04:58 * speedrunnerG55 rolls around
04:59 Cprossu ahacb?
04:59 LeadHead is the strategy
04:59 LeadHead http://www.eecanalyzer.net/DocMan/GuestOut.php
04:59 LeadHead binary editor
05:00 LeadHead http://www.eecanalyzer.net/DocMan/GuestDetails.php?aku=aWQ9MjA5JnN0YXRlPTI= ahacb strategy
05:00 LeadHead http://www.eecanalyzer.net/DocMan/GuestDetails.php?aku=aWQ9MjAxJnN0YXRlPTI= HOG0 calibration
05:00 LeadHead mines a HOG1, but they're close enough
05:01 LeadHead unfortunately you'll only have the trial version of binary editor so you won't be able to see everything
05:01 Thermoelectric We meet again, Mr. Blister.
05:02 Cprossu and do you have the file I need from the ecu?
05:02 BatSteve-Away is now known as BatSteve
05:03 BatSteve Thermoelectric: you'll probably get a tell in a second
05:03 LeadHead I don't have my friends ECU calibration
05:03 LeadHead since its on his laptop
05:03 LeadHead but HOG0 is what we're working with
05:03 Cprossu o
05:04 LeadHead datalogging also isn't working
05:04 LeadHead I got it to read battery voltage once
05:04 LeadHead but that was it
05:05 LeadHead I think the mistake we made is that the quarterhorse has 8 tune "banks"
05:05 Cprossu weird
05:05 LeadHead and I believe you're supposed to write your base tune to each bank
05:05 Cprossu it gave an error loading the hob file
05:05 Cprossu "error setting EVP selection"
05:05 Cprossu Column 'TAG' does not allow nulls.
05:06 Cprossu I wonder if it's an issue like that
05:06 LeadHead because from the factory the quarterhorse is preloaded with junk
05:06 LeadHead in all 8 banks
05:06 LeadHead like binary static someone described it
05:06 LeadHead one person said he made the mistake of turning on the ignition before flashing the QH
05:06 LeadHead and it turned the fuel pump on and started buzzing the injectors
05:06 LeadHead flooded his engine
05:07 Cprossu that doesn't surprise me
05:07 LeadHead so tommorow I'm going to try and f lash all 8 banks
05:07 LeadHead and start from there
05:07 Cprossu god damn
05:07 LeadHead did you load the ahacb strategy first?
05:07 Cprossu there are a shit load of things you can fuck up
05:07 Cprossu yeah
05:07 LeadHead yes rofl
05:07 LeadHead Ford has programmed scalars for drivability concerns
05:07 LeadHead that I didn't even know could exist
05:07 Cprossu AHACB Read Only.cry
05:08 LeadHead yarh
05:08 LeadHead You know what blew my mind?
05:08 Cprossu interesting extension btw
05:08 Cprossu true too
05:08 LeadHead EEC-IV even accounts for engine internal friction
05:08 LeadHead in some scalars
05:08 LeadHead in calculating torque for transmission needs
05:09 Cprossu hrmmm
05:09 LeadHead Oh what was one crazy one
05:09 LeadHead Oh yeah, there is a scalar for smoothing out RPM variations in the engine
05:10 LeadHead as in if your foot isn't perfectly steady, it will actively play with ignition timing trying to keep engine RPM dead steady during cruise
05:11 LeadHead If you want some real fun, check out the other tabs, one has all the fueling graphs
05:11 LeadHead and charts
05:11 Cprossu yeah this is going to suck
05:11 Cprossu megasquirt is cool because you plug the fucker in and as long as it turns over it'll adapt
05:11 LeadHead oh
05:12 LeadHead EEC-IV can do that too
05:12 Cprossu yeah but
05:12 Cprossu it's a long sucky road to get there
05:12 LeadHead I'll hook the O2 ground back up tommorow
05:12 LeadHead as long as I can get it to accept the firing order so it runs smooth
05:12 LeadHead it will go into closed loop
05:12 LeadHead and the adaptive learning will start
05:12 Cprossu your injector harness has a seperate plug though right?
05:12 Cprossu and that's what I was getting at
05:13 LeadHead Ford was queer when they did this truck
05:13 Cprossu so no connector?!
05:13 LeadHead actually it's kind of neat in one way, but annoying in another
05:13 LeadHead every single electrical connection for the engine is part of a single subharness
05:13 LeadHead with one big fat connector
05:13 LeadHead that lays ontop of the engine
05:14 Cprossu hrmmm
05:14 Cprossu now here's a funny question
05:14 LeadHead we cut the wires for injectors 3-8
05:14 LeadHead soldered new wires onto them
05:14 Cprossu are the injector wires long enough to reach?
05:14 LeadHead and ran them right to the eec connector
05:14 Cprossu the 302 firing order?
05:14 LeadHead no they are not
05:14 ajprog_laptop left #thegeekgroup
05:14 Cprossu how many cylinders could you get attached?
05:15 LeadHead what do you mean
05:15 Cprossu because it would still be a good test
05:15 LeadHead we could try swapping some I suppose tommorow
05:15 LeadHead so tommorow, I need to try and 1. Change firing order in the software
05:15 LeadHead 2. Change displcement to 460 CID
05:15 Cprossu also do you know if the computer is batch firing the injectors or a true multiport?
05:16 LeadHead 3. change injector size to 36/lb
05:16 LeadHead and 4. input the new MAF transfercurve
05:16 LeadHead this ECU is true sequential
05:16 tonsofpcs LeadHead: what are you doing?
05:16 Cprossu he's programming an ECU
05:16 Cprossu for a truck
05:16 tonsofpcs also, someone needs to figure out how to retune the acrodyne 1k translator for hAM TV use
05:16 LeadHead once I do those 4 things
05:16 tonsofpcs (i might have a book for it at work)
05:17 LeadHead the adaptive learning will be able to get the truck pretty much driveable on its own
05:17 LeadHead for N/A use that is
05:17 tonsofpcs cool
05:17 Cprossu for turbo too technically, LeadHead
05:17 LeadHead not with the narrow band
05:17 Cprossu even with the narrowband
05:18 Cprossu the key is your MAF
05:18 LeadHead not adaptive learning with the narrowband, you tell the ECU-IV your target air-fuel ratio
05:18 LeadHead for a given RPM/Load/air-flow
05:18 LeadHead and it will try and figure the fueling
05:18 LeadHead If this truck had the EGR posistion sensor, I could patch the wideband right to it
05:18 LeadHead since EGR posistion is a 0-5v input
05:19 LeadHead and adaptive learning could use that, but this truck lacks that
05:19 LeadHead :(
05:19 Cprossu can you add it from a junkyard truck?
05:19 Cprossu what does it entail?
05:19 LeadHead no the EGR posistion sensor input
05:19 LeadHead is something on the EEC itself
05:19 LeadHead this EEC lacks that sensor
05:19 Cprossu damn i see
05:20 Cprossu so what inputs are you left with?
05:20 LeadHead no extras
05:20 Cprossu did it originally have a map?
05:20 LeadHead yes
05:20 Cprossu and a maf?
05:20 LeadHead no
05:20 Cprossu *the computer itself*
05:20 LeadHead oh
05:20 LeadHead that's why we switched to the new computer
05:20 Cprossu exactly my thinking
05:20 LeadHead when you switch to a MAF computer
05:21 LeadHead the MAP turns into a barometer
05:21 LeadHead you unplug the vacuum line going to iot
05:21 LeadHead *it
05:21 Cprossu but could you patch that input to say.... wideband? xD
05:21 LeadHead Ford was gay.
05:21 LeadHead MAP sensor output is a squarewave
05:21 Fulsy left #thegeekgroup
05:21 LeadHead something like 80-300 Hz
05:21 Cprossu my god.
05:21 LeadHead depending on pressure
05:22 Cprossu so not 0-xv like every other stinking map?
05:22 LeadHead yup
05:22 Cprossu that's a first for me
05:22 Cprossu wow
05:22 Cprossu .
05:22 LeadHead That's also why MAP based boost tuning is a whore on Fords :-P
05:22 Cprossu now I get you
05:22 LeadHead Some late 90s GM MAFs used a frequency too
05:22 LeadHead which is odd
05:22 Cprossu all chryslers were voltage
05:22 LeadHead yarh
05:23 Cprossu you can even take a map from a '85 and put it on an '05
05:23 Cprossu and it will work
05:23 LeadHead gotta love it
05:23 Cprossu even fits the bracket iirc
05:23 LeadHead well an 85-95 ford map will interchange
05:23 LeadHead :-P
05:24 LeadHead but yeah around the mid 90s, the ford computers were in a crossover phase
05:24 Cprossu everyones computers were in a crossover phase thanks to obdII
05:24 LeadHead For example, the 94-95 Mustang EEC-IV hardware
05:24 LeadHead was very similar to the 96+ OBD-II EEC-V
05:25 Cprossu we had a '95 corvette prototype
05:25 LeadHead and the 94-95 mustang EEC-IVs are the fastest EEC-IVs
05:25 Cprossu it had both OBD and OBDII computers
05:25 LeadHead with the most scalars available
05:25 LeadHead that's funky.
05:25 LeadHead Cprossu.
05:25 Cprossu both computers actually shared the same inputs
05:25 LeadHead weird
05:25 Cprossu but the outputs were wired on the OBDII
05:25 LeadHead odd
05:25 Cprossu two ports too
05:26 LeadHead so what was the OBD-I computer doing
05:26 Cprossu you could literally plug scantools into both
05:26 LeadHead if it wasn't controlling anything
05:26 Cprossu we think they were using it to test out the hardware
05:26 LeadHead oh
05:26 Cprossu because we later found a very weird harness
05:26 LeadHead But yeah, Ford actually introduced the EEC-V in 1994.5
05:26 Cprossu that plugged into the obd computer
05:27 Cprossu that fed into the harness to the obdII computer
05:27 Cprossu if you unplugged it
05:27 Cprossu then the car would run on obdI
05:27 LeadHead weird.
05:27 Cprossu you talk about your ghetto rigs
05:27 Cprossu lol
05:27 LeadHead rofl
05:27 LeadHead another oddity was the 1996 F-150
05:27 Cprossu oh that reminds me of something funny
05:27 Cprossu 1995 neon.
05:27 Cprossu obdII
05:27 LeadHead It had to be OBD-II since its a "light duty"
05:28 LeadHead but it was stll the old body style running the old engines
05:28 Cprossu and 1998 BMW 330i, guess what it had?
05:28 LeadHead so 96 F-150 will have the only EEC-Vs that support TFI and distributors
05:28 LeadHead what?
05:28 Cprossu OBDI
05:28 LeadHead oh lemme guess
05:28 LeadHead underhood
05:28 Cprossu it was all obdI
05:28 Cprossu they did however
05:28 Cprossu put a box in
05:29 Cprossu that fed 'obd2' stuff through
05:29 Cprossu as in a 'translator'
05:29 Cprossu between obd2 info and obd1 codes
05:29 LeadHead weird
05:30 Cprossu so the car was effectively obdI and the OBDII data port was essentially a one way only device when it came to the ECU
05:30 LeadHead but yeah, Ford basically only rolled the EEC-V out when they had to
05:30 Cprossu oh and funnier stuff too
05:30 Cprossu 2010 nissan sentra, transmission computer
05:30 Cprossu communicates in .... OBDI
05:30 LeadHead the 1994.5 power stroke diesel heavy duty trucks ran EEC-V with OBD-II port
05:31 LeadHead while the '97 F-250/350 gassers were still on EEC-IV odb-1
05:31 LeadHead err '96
05:31 Cprossu and 1995 S10's are shown in the service manual as having OBDII ports
05:31 Cprossu but they don't
05:31 LeadHead weird stuff
05:31 Cprossu it gets weirder too
05:31 Cprossu 1994 manual
05:31 Cprossu shows it having a distributer
05:32 LeadHead GM was using coil packs way before that
05:32 Cprossu it gets weird here
05:32 Cprossu ready for this
05:32 BatSteve Fake, but hilarious
05:32 BatSteve http://www.thegunzone.com/glock/images/nyte-sytes.jpg
05:32 Cprossu to figure this out we have to go back to an engine based on an Opel design made for the original cavalier
05:32 Cprossu it was 1.6L and... a DOG
05:33 LeadHead isn't the Ecotec an opel design?
05:33 Cprossu or was it 1.8
05:33 Cprossu either way
05:33 Cprossu pushrod engine
05:33 Cprossu overhead valve
05:33 LeadHead 2.2?
05:33 LeadHead no 2.2 was ironduke wasn't it?
05:33 Cprossu I'm getting to that
05:33 Cprossu no
05:33 Cprossu 2.5 is iron duke
05:33 LeadHead oh
05:33 Cprossu and S10's had them until 1993
05:33 Cprossu in 94 they changed it
05:33 LeadHead to the 2.2
05:33 Cprossu so let me continue
05:33 Cprossu yeah
05:34 Cprossu the 1.8 had a dizzy, so did the 2.5 iron duke
05:34 Cprossu they bored and stroked it to 2.0
05:34 Cprossu because it lacked any horsepower or pickup
05:34 Cprossu or anything good
05:34 Cprossu it still had a dizzy
05:34 Cprossu in 1987 they switched to coilpacks
05:34 Cprossu still 2.0
05:34 wannabe1987 http://www.gocomics.com/garfield/?ref=ga_gce_b5
05:35 Cprossu in 1989 (or so) they bored and stroked it again to 2.2
05:35 Cprossu in 1993 they changed the ignition system to a slightly different one
05:36 Cprossu and in 1994 the S10 had the old 2.2L ignition even though the cavaliers were running a different ignition
05:36 Cprossu so as a result of copy + paste
05:36 Cprossu they took the dizzy from the 2.5 and put it in the manual under ignition
05:36 Coderjoe BatSteve: even more funny (nyte-sytes) is that some law enforcement agencies picked it up and thought it was real
05:37 Cprossu when the engnine in it hadn't had a dizzy since 1987
05:37 Cprossu and in the 1995 manual they got premature and put in all the OBDII crap which didn't make it in the final truck
05:37 speedrunnerG55 .stream

05:38 Cprossu making my creation of a wiring diagram without a real truck to take apart
05:38 Cprossu rather difficult
05:38 Cprossu catch all that, LeadHead
05:39 Coderjoe when did the switch from ustream to justin.tv happen?
05:39 Cprossu days ago
05:39 Cprossu like 3
05:39 Cprossu Coderjoe notice the quality difference too?
05:40 Coderjoe i haven't looked yet.
05:40 Coderjoe but I was playing around with trying to feed justintv from a playlist
05:40 tonsofpcs 2
05:41 tonsofpcs Cprossu: check out the wiring diagram for the wheatstone tv600 so far
05:41 Coderjoe pain in the butt part is needing to restart the stream translater script between items
05:41 Cprossu tonsofpcs: what's up?
05:41 Cprossu and where do I look?
05:42 Coderjoe whee
05:42 Cprossu did you send it to any paticular Cprossu Cprossu_Netbook or Cprossu_Laptop?
05:42 Cprossu @ tonsofpcs
05:42 LeadHead yeah got all that
05:42 LeadHead was in the bathroom
05:42 Cprossu ok haha
05:43 Coderjoe it apparently took a screenshot of what I was playing with streaming and used that at my profile pic
05:43 Cprossu same here
05:43 LeadHead you got the engineers, marketers, and the customer satisfcation guys all workign against each other
05:43 LeadHead it sounds like
05:43 Cprossu but you can upload your own
05:43 Coderjoe so I have a part of a parody fandub group's logo as my profile pic
05:43 Cprossu and you also have another group
05:43 Cprossu the new engineers
05:43 Coderjoe I wanted to leave it blank
05:43 Cprossu who get relegated to.... writing the manuals

05:44 Cprossu newbies get the 'shit' job
05:44 LeadHead You know something I thought that was neat
05:44 Cprossu this is why on a '89 park avenue (I think)
05:44 LeadHead that ford did with the introduction of the power-strokes in 94.5
05:44 Cprossu the wiring diagram
05:44 Cprossu shows
05:44 LeadHead Is how they controlled them
05:44 Cprossu ready for it?
05:45 LeadHead park ave would be a 3.8
05:45 LeadHead wouldn't it
05:45 BatSteve goodnight gang
05:45 BatSteve is now known as BatSteve-Away

05:45 Cprossu they had a I4 I think too
05:45 LeadHead oh
05:45 Cprossu and a shit tastic 3100
05:45 LeadHead in 89?
05:45 Cprossu can't remember exactly
05:45 Cprossu but the point is
05:45 Cprossu the wiring diagram show
05:45 Cprossu s
05:45 Cprossu an UNFUSED set of wires
05:46 LeadHead that do?
05:46 Cprossu a relay, 30 and 87a
05:46 Cprossu one side ground and one side hot
05:46 LeadHead and I'm guessing these relays are not supposed to turn on
05:47 cow_patty_moo is now known as lwq_netbook

05:47 LeadHead rofl
05:47 LeadHead speaking of cookers
05:47 LeadHead back to the PSD diesels now
05:47 Cprossu remember 87a
05:47 Cprossu is relay rest position
05:47 Cprossu so as long as the relay ISN'T powered
05:48 LeadHead its fine and dandy
05:48 Cprossu remember this wasn't on the actual car

05:48 lwq_netbook left #thegeekgroup
05:48 LeadHead wiring diagram
05:48 Cprossu yep
05:48 Cprossu oh I FORGOT!
05:48 Cprossu 85 was wired to the maf
05:49 Cprossu and the ground was wired to the plus side of the batt too
05:49 LeadHead they were one of the first fully electronically controlled diesels, 8 electro-hydraulic unit injectors, oil-pressure actuated,so these engines had electronically pressure regulated high pressure oil pumps
05:49 Cprossu to make things even weirder
05:49 Cprossu LeadHead wrong weight could really fuck that up, eh?
05:49 LeadHead tons of sensors, exhaust back pressure valves, etc..
05:49 LeadHead too heavy of an oil will usually make for hard winter starting
05:50 LeadHead the PSDs are one of the very few engines where an oil change can actually make a differnce in how the engine runs
05:50 LeadHead put clean oil in them, and they'll start better, run crisper and quieter, and have a tad more power
05:51 Cprossu the vortec 4200 can be screwed by oil too
05:51 LeadHead the high pressure oil pump cranks the oil upto around 3000 PSI, pressure varies based on throttle
05:52 LeadHead and each injector has a solenoid that sends the oil to this weird piston assembl
05:52 LeadHead that will amplify the ~70 PSI fuel pressure
05:52 Cprossu I'm guessing there are filter screens everywhere in this mess
05:52 LeadHead to around 21,000 PSi
05:52 LeadHead fuel system is filetered good
05:52 LeadHead *filtered good
05:52 Cprossu no I mean the oil system
05:53 LeadHead high pressure oil pump is fed oil from the low pressure pump
05:53 LeadHead post filter
05:53 Cprossu no I mean there have to be catch filters in the high pressure oil pump before it
05:53 Cprossu there just have to be
05:53 LeadHead no not really afaik
05:53 Cprossu they should.
05:53 LeadHead I think there might be little screeens
05:53 LeadHead but thats it
05:54 Cprossu those little screens are what I am talking about
05:54 Cprossu from that hydraulic loop I bet there'd be a lot of them
05:54 Cprossu or at least hope
05:54 LeadHead one "unique" feature of these engines is
05:54 LeadHead you run out of oil
05:54 LeadHead engine stops
05:54 LeadHead :-P
05:54 Cprossu because the smallest debris in there would fuck shit up
05:54 Cprossu LeadHead it depends on how worn the piston rings are
05:54 LeadHead thats why the HPOP only takes filtered oil
05:55 Thermoelectric left #thegeekgroup
05:55 Cprossu if you catch my drift
05:55 LeadHead but yeah, it's an EEC-V orchestrating everything
05:55 LeadHead but not directly
05:55 LeadHead they basically took an EEC-V, and disabled/removed the ignition control components
05:56 LeadHead the 8 injector wires go to an amplifier mounted else where (called the IDM, injector driver module)
05:56 LeadHead that actually boosts the voltage upto around 130vDC
05:56 LeadHead to feed the injectors
05:57 speedrunnerG55 left #thegeekgroup
05:57 LeadHead Ford called the injection system HEUI
05:57 LeadHead Hydrauilc-electric-unit-injection iirc.
05:58 LeadHead International co-developed it with CAT.
05:58 Cprossu that reminds me of something funny ford did once
05:58 LeadHead A common mod of the older PSD IDMs
05:58 Cprossu they took a thermostatic fan clutch right?
05:58 LeadHead is to change some resistors
05:58 Thermoelectric joined #thegeekgroup
05:58 LeadHead later ones were 130v
05:58 LeadHead older IDMs were 110v
05:58 Cprossu and put an electric heater in the center
05:58 LeadHead change some resistors and you can crank the voltage
05:58 LeadHead to work the thermostatic spring
05:59 Cprossu then they 'controlled' the fan with the ecm
05:59 LeadHead GM took a different approach
05:59 LeadHead They have a solenoid that taps the button on the front of the clutch
05:59 Cprossu I preferred the "we removed the fucking fan and put an electric one in" approach
05:59 LeadHead 2002+ Envoys/Trailblazers use the electromechanical fan clutches
06:00 LeadHead when the PCM wants the fan to lock up, you can actually hear the solenoid pinging against the button
06:00 LeadHead and around 30 seconds later you hear the fan get loud
06:00 LeadHead all trucks with V8s and diesels from all makes are now using electronically controlled fan clutches now
06:00 LeadHead I believe
06:01 Cprossu that reminds me
06:01 Cprossu the new hemi dodge truck radiators are _tiny_!
06:01 LeadHead they're sticking with the clutch fans because
06:02 LeadHead frankly, electric fans still can't touch a locked up clutch fan in air flow
06:02 LeadHead a Trailblazer clutch fan locked up @ 3000 RPM moves something like 8000 CFM through the radiatior stack
06:02 LeadHead who knows what it could do in free-air
06:07 Cprossu there's only one fan blade attached to an engine that I want lol
06:08 Cprossu LeadHead : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shqg4a-Ols8&feature=related
06:08 Cprossu heh heheheh
06:08 LeadHead rofl, seen that
06:09 LeadHead I believe the installed ones
06:09 LeadHead were setup on LPG
06:10 LeadHead and were setup so they could be remotely started and triggered
06:10 Cprossu interestingly enough they ran on propane iirc
06:11 LeadHead woo i was right
06:13 LeadHead yeesh
06:14 LeadHead early years of the powerstrokes were rough
06:14 LeadHead this guy said that even in a single model year Ford would have multiple calibrations
06:14 LeadHead for the diesels
06:15 LeadHead So if you and your buddy both bought the same exact '96 diesel fords
06:15 LeadHead a few months apart, there is a chance that his would actually run slightly different than yours
06:17 LeadHead oooooh, thats neat. Ford the early mechanical injection diesels, ford made a gimped EEC-IV that only looks at VSS and throttle posistion
06:17 LeadHead its only purpose is to control an automatic

14:14 tonsofpcs with 1 mic and 1 line per input (there's about 20 mono inputs, i'll get real numbers when i get in), we're at 4 input blocks. We need 2 output blocks. Right now I have 3 blocks and only 2 are full of bridge clips. I know where at least 3 more blocks are. That makes 6 blocks......

17:49 Seroster mashpriborintorg, I have taken apart a LOT of TVs, and the degauss coil is always easier to get off than the yolk
17:49 Seroster Problem with the degauss coil is that they are more and more replaced by aluminium
17:50 mashpriborintorg yeah, it you let it heat in the sun, the adhesive comes very easily, but ot's messy
17:50 Seroster And the copper ones are almost always wrapped with black pvc tape, wich leaves this insanely annoying residue

17:54 mashpriborintorg they were aluminium wire
17:54 Seroster You preferably check that BEFORE opening it
17:54 mashpriborintorg but the magnetron tube is still copper
17:55 mashpriborintorg yeah, not waste time with crap
17:55 Seroster If it is an aluminium primary copper secondary you scrap it. If it is 100% aluminium you cut out the secondary and replace with 3 turns of 3gauge
17:55 Seroster mashpriborintorg, Just stay away from the pink insulator. That is beryllium oxide.

18:01 Cprossu it's radioactive thorium too iirc
18:01 ajprog_laptop is that the same thing as a microwave hit by lightning --- I have one of those :)
18:01 mashpriborintorg I have a laser telemeter from fighter aircraft
18:01 Cprossu hence "activated"

22:28 SparkyStudio Cprossu is probably busy getting ready for his trip

22:32 SparkyStudio trying to avoid him ? :D
22:32 tggmc speed-mobile: i don't think it's in a standard, but look up 10GX32. Awesome stuff. I have a 500' patch cable
22:32 ajprog_laptop I was there on Fri night but you where hiding in MC
22:32 tggmc SparkyStudio: no, I have to drive home, work on tuesday, prepping for a live show on thursday

22:40 tggmc speed-mobile: what do you mean about 1000 ft? it's sold by the spool....
22:40 speed-mobile How can it exceed 300ft
22:41 Cprossu at 10mb if ethernet
22:41 Cprossu there are ways around it
22:41 Cprossu fiber is the best way around all of it though
22:41 tggmc oh, i've run 100 base on it over a 50' cat5 drop with a 6' cat5 patch and a 500' piece of 10GX32
22:41 speed-mobile Lol ye
22:41 speed-mobile Single mode ftw
22:41 Cprossu OOOH 10GX32 cable
22:41 Cprossu ok
22:41 Cprossu I didn't read that haha
22:42 tggmc :D
22:42 Cprossu but it costs an ASS LOAD
22:42 Cprossu nearly as much as fiber =P
22:42 Cprossu or at least it did when I first looked at it
22:42 tggmc Cprossu: newark had it for half off if you wanted yellow
22:42 tggmc $700ish for 100'
22:42 speed-mobile I did t learn about it in class and they didnt know about bonded pair when i asked
22:42 tggmc err, 1000'
22:43 tggmc speed-mobile: network techs don't generally try to break standards, they follow them.
22:43 Cprossu I still say I prefer 1000' at $80 for plenum rated lol
22:43 tggmc I'm a broadcast engineer. It's my job to exploit it as much as possible.
22:43 tggmc 1000'
22:43 tggmc for $80?!?! where?
22:43 Cprossu I have connections =P
22:43 tggmc 500' of CMR costs like $70 by me
22:44 Cprossu (cat 5e and cat6 mind you)
22:44 speed-mobile Oh kk
22:44 tggmc ya, i get that
22:44 Cprossu pvc crap is $35 for 1000ft from my source too
22:44 speed-mobile Ill just go with fiber them
22:44 tggmc oh, also, if oyu have a wire stripper for 24awg, bring it
22:44 tggmc fibre requires power at each end
22:44 speed-mobile I am Being foa certified anyway

22:45 Cprossu I am making a fry's electronics run in 20 mins

22:45 Cprossu I'll pick up a 66 tool there
22:45 tggmc a box of cat5 can't hurt either
22:45 Cprossu not worth it

22:45 Cprossu remember it has to fit in my luggage

22:57 Cprossu with the pci latency timing on the dell's bios
22:57 Cprossu long story short

23:01 tggmc make sure it's one of those high/low switchable ones (you want it in high for these wires) and that it's got a cutter
23:01 Cprossu (eyes MC)
23:01 tggmc Cprossu: yea. This thing needs a full clean rewire
23:02 tggmc Cprossu: do you want me to mount the audio blocks or leave them unmounted if you're gonna clean?
23:02 Cprossu mount them
23:02 Cprossu it's easy enough to undo them if I need to
23:02 tggmc k, here's what i have to mount them on. I'll just lean it on the wall. More need to be made (we need at least 6, i think 8. check docs)

23:12 Cprossu ajprog_laptop: name pls
23:13 CaptainBoden He must not want in that badly.
23:13 Cprossu apparently not.
23:14 CaptainBoden Cprossu, are you stopping in Detroit on your way in?
23:14 Cprossu sorry for bugging you CaptainBoden =/ good help is hard to come by these days it seems (insert joke here)
23:14 Cprossu let me check
23:15 Cprossu no
23:15 CaptainBoden I have a pair of good capture cards sitting in Detroit, you can snag them on your way in for transmitter computers. :)
23:15 CaptainBoden ok, I'll try and find a way to get them here. Kidwell has a pair of Hauppage 500's, dual 720 hardware encoders on each card.
23:15 tggmc also, stream PC BSOD'd 3 times in the past few hours. seems a bit more stable now... Cprossu is planning to work on it when he's here
23:15 Cprossu I take it back atually
23:16 Cprossu Denver CO
23:16 Cprossu on the way to
23:16 Cprossu and Chicago on the way back?
23:16 Cprossu well whatever
23:16 CaptainBoden I hope so, I want him to design and build a brand new PAIR of them when he's here.
23:16 Cprossu yeha I am building a new stream comp lol
23:16 Cprossu at least one
23:16 Cprossu from the parts I sent
23:16 tggmc with balanced inputs preferrably. (Right now I have one 1/4" balanced connector into input 5 on the mackie, running from the output patch panel)
23:16 CaptainBoden There will be two built, I want a hot backup.
23:17 Cprossu that's first thing when I get to the lab
23:17 Cprossu then I'll design 2 real ones
23:17 CaptainBoden tggmc, did the kid show up who wanted in?
23:17 Cprossu but there'll be a bee buzzing around my head if I don't get a reliable temp solution up
23:17 tggmc CaptainBoden: idk. I tried calling his cell that he pm'd me when you were looking for him to respond, but he didn't answer...
23:17 tggmc ajprog_laptop: you there?
23:17 * speed-mobile pokes around
23:18 * speed-mobile pokes tggmc
23:18 Cprossu one that doesn't say DELL on it that runs the black magic intensity pro is my feeling, CaptainBoden
23:18 tggmc Cprossu: you might be able to get the chyrons to use analog in on one of the video cards in them... i know they can use analog inputs for sync, they might be able to use analog inputs for video capture
23:18 tggmc alternatively, one of the 4+ dekos in the building might be usable
23:18 Cprossu oooh.
23:18 tggmc (although one of those should really be set up for CG)
23:19 Cprossu I'll build a decko up from pieces of all of them if I have to
23:19 Cprossu but I need to know
23:19 CaptainBoden the fuck is a Decko?
23:19 Cprossu can you pop the top on one?
23:19 Cprossu it's a pinnacle character generator
23:19 tggmc there's a thunder LT and a FX Deko II right here
23:19 CaptainBoden k
23:19 Cprossu I need to know what motherboards they are based on if you can so I can bring some 'seasoned' vintage parts up
23:20 CaptainBoden Are the guys still pressurewashing?
23:20 tggmc and there's 2 or 3 downstairs in studio.... 3?
23:20 tggmc Bill is down pressure washing, I think oliver is in the cafe

23:21 CaptainBoden ah, never heard of him.
23:21 CaptainBoden Jeff, are you a member?
23:22 Cprossu and I also killed a bobcat once, trying to move stuff in my room. it tipped over and it's support frame broke in 1/2
23:22 Cprossu (slight exaggeration possibly though)
23:22 SparkyStudio The remains of the bobcat are still in there somewhere :D
23:23 Cprossu yeah I tripped on it yesterday and scratched my leg =(

23:24 tggmc (at least, the rear panels are, they could be extended headers...)
23:25 tggmc but there's at least 4 of them
23:25 tggmc the two right here and two in the first studio (i guess studio 4? the one next to the set studio)

23:25 tggmc side to side, not up and down!
23:25 tggmc also, there's a bunch of other oddball CGs of various vintages, Cprossu
23:26 tggmc but i'd expect a deko to work.
23:26 Cprossu tggmc: I expect nothing to work.
23:26 tggmc Cprossu: let me rephrase
23:26 Cprossu let's start there
23:26 tggmc I expect the deko to work just as well as it did when it was brand new.
23:26 Cprossu then we can be happy if it does!
23:26 Ajprog ???
23:26 tggmc so you can hack away at it to make it work :-p
23:26 Cprossu and I'll not rephrase
23:26 Cprossu tggmc: I expect nothing to work.
23:27 tggmc Cprossu: clarification: I highly doubt that it worked when it was brand new
23:27 Cprossu it's my philosophy, nothing works until proven!
23:27 tggmc also, for those who didn't see the first time I posted it: This board (The Wheatstone TV600) was built about an hour from where I live :-p
23:27 Cprossu along with 90% of problems lie in connections
23:27 Cprossu ^ true for social or electronics.
23:27 tggmc I always forget that Wheatstone was in Syracuse for a long time. (They're in [north?] carolina now)
23:28 Cprossu they wanted to be more near grass valley?
23:28 Cprossu oooh
23:28 Cprossu I found a FRS radio
23:28 Cprossu (chucks it in his suitcase)
23:28 tggmc there's a raido system in a box in the hallway below MC... not sure what the working status is, it might be what's been being talked about on the forums....
23:29 Cprossu I hope so
23:29 tggmc also, there's a channel... 52? 1kW TV translator that really needs retuning to ham bands. Someone bug me when I'm at work and I might have some of the manuals (it's an acrodyne)
