00:00 tonsofpcs lwq_laptop: depends.
00:02 TeslaMan I need some help.  I have been trying and trying to drive 2 motors on a old weal chair with RC.  Does anyone have any ideas of how i could give them speed control from a RC reciver, the motors look to be about 20 amps, havent tested their amp draw yet.

00:44 Si235 has anyone had experience with 1tb+ hard drives for MTBF/ reliability issues that they like?
00:44 Si235 I need to add some more storage, and I haven't figured out what I should get.
00:45 lwq_laptop lol
00:45 HighMan ...
00:45 lwq_laptop Si235: googles your best friend for reviews
00:45 Si235 I've been doing that, but I would like some first hand experience from people.
00:45 epictang0 Si235: My 2c: with that much data, ALWAYS double up.
00:46 Si235 yes, agreed, I will probably put the drives in some sort of raid configuration.
00:46 HighMan Raid zero ;)
00:46 lwq_laptop yay gta game is half way done with downloading
00:46 Si235 lol@raid 0
00:46 Si235 that will decrease reliability!
00:46 epictang0 HighMan: only if you can mirror it...RAID 10 is a viable option...
00:47 Si235 I'm probably going to go with RAID 5.
00:47 HighMan I was making a stupid joke :P
00:47 epictang0 I run raid0 on my laptop, BUT it gets backed up every night
00:47 Si235 I'm also considering promise technology hardware RAID fibrechannel systems.
00:47 Si235 I need to put together about 50tb of storage
00:48 HighMan Who wants a ssd that can run at infinity yottabytes per planck time.
00:48 epictang0 Si235: no experience with the promise stuff...lots of experience with emc and nexsan
00:48 * Si235 raises hands!
00:49 HighMan I wouldn't, you would have extreme speed, but you wouldn't know where the files are!
00:49 Si235 EMC makes retrospect, and is owned by Dantz right?
00:49 Si235 haven't used Nexsan.
00:49 epictang0 emc makes/owns alot of things...like vmware
00:50 Si235 cool.
00:50 Si235 I use vmware.
00:50 epictang0 and rsa and ...
00:50 Si235 its just not supported on my current processor architecture, etc...
00:50 Si235 cool
00:50 Si235 the promise stuff looks good.
00:51 Si235 but its very expensive.
00:51 Si235 like 20k for the storage capacity I need.
00:51 Si235 but fibrechannel is nice.
00:51 Si235 and has very good throughput.
00:51 epictang0 nexsan is what we run here...i am pushing ~4PB total between 3 datacenters
00:52 epictang0 I would not recommend FC unless it is FCoE...iscsi is where it is at IMO
00:52 Si235 woot.
00:52 Si235 okay.
00:52 Si235 I'm down to use that too.
00:53 Si235 what ever is the most modern scalable architecture.
00:53 epictang0 10Gbit with an upgrade path to 100Gbit...on commodity hardware...no special switches
00:53 Si235 and something where I can eventually end up in the petabyte range.
00:53 epictang0 you want iscsi
00:53 Si235 sounds good.
00:53 Si235 what speed drives do you use?
00:54 epictang0 depedns on the san...we are pretty much half ssd/half 15k
00:54 Si235 nice.
00:54 epictang0 but depending on the caching, you can get by with 7200/10k
00:54 Si235 the 15k drives generally come in very small sizes :(
00:54 epictang0 alot of our customers are in financial sector, so we need low latency
00:54 Si235 what do you use for your switching fabric?
00:55 epictang0 cisco N7K
00:55 epictang0 we are moving from cisco to juniper at the core however...far more cost effective
00:56 Si235 cool.
00:56 Si235 have you ever worked with Apple's xsan technology?
00:57 epictang0 yes...as well as xgrid...
00:57 LemLap joined #thegeekgroup
00:59 Si235 I'm essentially looking for a file system that is analogous to a SVN repository where things are never deleted and only stored as revisions, that way if there is a software level breach/virus that it can't delete data, only fill up disks.
00:59 Si235 I'm also looking for something that keeps a true file created on the local file system date.
01:00 exor674 until the virus corrupts the fuck out of the filesystem
01:00 Si235 even OS X / Linux / Unix don't seem to do this.
01:00 exor674 or "rootkits" and dd if=/dev/null's the fucker
01:00 Si235 To prevent that you have a file system where it can only be added to, so a virus at a specific time can only effect up to the time of the infection.
01:00 Si235 yeah, and to prevent that I want a hardware layer that will prevent that.
01:01 exor674 and I want a trillion dollars and a pony
01:01 epictang0 for 20k? good luck with that
01:01 Si235 right now I use drives with encryption key one time pad control over write only switches on the HD's themself, so no matter what happens to the software, the hardware will still have the data, and it can't be removed.
01:01 Si235 not for 20k, I'd say a 100k budget for that.
01:02 epictang0 go higher...you are going to have to do DPI on every packet..
01:02 Si235 I don't think I will need deep packet inspection.
01:02 epictang0 if you can do it for less than 500k...let me know i will take 10 of them
01:03 Si235 if the file system can only grow, and can't have data removed, then I just have to be able to go back and forward in time for the file system.
01:03 Si235 and if it stores differentially then I'm good, and the md5 / what ever check sum can let me know if I have duplicate data and generate references so it doesn't have to duplicate data.
01:03 Si235 I thought that xsan did some of this.
01:03 Fulsy joined #thegeekgroup
01:04 Si235 though I'm not really sure having never worked with it.
01:04 Si235 essentially I want a time stamp off a non computer clock, something in hardware, like a atomic clock for all files.
01:04 Si235 and I'd have hardware layers with FPGAs controlling things.
01:04 Si235 this way I would not have a file system that can really be effected by malicious attacks.
01:04 epictang0 right...we use GPS...
01:05 Si235 yes, a GPS would be fine.
01:05 Si235 I have a atomic clock already, but sure a GPS.
01:05 Si235 something that is unique, much like a lottery ticket is stamped.
01:05 LemLap woot
01:05 LemLap had a very productive meeting this morning about the new potential site for our hackerspace
01:05 LemLap all 30'000 square feet of it
01:05 Si235 this is a huge deficiency in the Unix/OS X file systems.
01:05 epictang0 LemLap: rock on...
01:05 Si235 awesome LemLap :)
01:06 Si235 so would you really take 10 of them if I could delver them by a guaranteed date with QA on the system, and other benchmarking methods?
01:07 Si235 I also think one could check for erroneous data, for say if a malicious pice of code was running... Perhaps even by signing the creating process, and the older files would be signed by the process in memory on each machine creating the file, and a virus wouldn't have the same signature so it would be instantly removed.
01:08 Si235 actually I really like this idea.
01:08 epictang0 Si235: i have some clients that would consider it...but it has to be an industry standard FS with the ablity to recover from every bad thing that could possibly happen
01:08 Si235 yes.
01:08 Si235 exactly.
01:08 Si235 complete data security.

01:08 epictang0 we have visited this before...complete data security is a myth...
01:08 Si235 I even have plans to put the storage cluster into a constellation into space, as micro / nano sats each with 10Tb's each... with redundant pathways.
01:09 epictang0 we had a client that wanted us to design the ability to self destruct the racks if breached
01:09 epictang0 that was fun
01:09 epictang0 but impractical on so many levels
01:09 Si235 yeah.
01:10 LemLap epictang0, thermite charge on each hard drive?
01:10 SparkyProjects http://www.ubergizmo.com/2012/04/self-destruct-usb-stick/
01:10 BotSteve Title: Self-destruct USB stick used by the Secret Service | Ubergizmo
01:10 Si235 I've actually figured out a nifty mechanism to destroy data, but it would require using memory based data storage systems, and to have the power to the chips on a bus that uses a one time pad encrypted packet sent to them as a heart beat to keep them alive so even if the data is removed from the storage facility with the power being applied they don't receive the heart beat from a external source and thereby self destruct.
01:11 Si235 you don't need physical destruction...
01:12 Si235 that is to easy to defeat, but if you created something into the memory structures themself then you could easily have if they were removed from the facility that they wouldn't be receiving the heart beats...
01:12 epictang0 we visited that...buddy of mine did a talk on it at defcon last year https://media.defcon.org/dc-19/video/DEF%20CON%2019%20Hacking%20Conference%20Presentation%20By%20-%20Lawson%20Potter%20and%20Deviant%20Ollam%20-%20And%20Thats%20How%20I%20Lost%20My%20Eye%20Exploring%20Emergency%20Data%20Destruction%20-%20Video.m4v
01:12 Si235 I think you really do have to go out to space to get good security from insane lunatics here on earth.
01:13 SparkyProjects Not if the russians launch a recovery cradt and remove it from space :P
01:13 SparkyProjects *craft
01:13 Si235 a single payload could launch 1000 micro sat's in orbit with micro thrusting systems, and they would disperse in a cloud around the earth, and you could have them go dark / radio black, and use invisible radar absorbing things to minimize their heat signature / radio signiture, and then transmit across the space fabric... and allow for redundancy.
01:13 epictang0 SparkyProjects: see IronKey...we use them exclusively
01:14 Si235 not to mention you can store in the interstellar medium of space it self.
01:14 Si235 that's just it there are so many of the sats that you can't easily productively recover them.
01:14 Si235 and you can launch them in different patterns, and let them maneuver as well.
01:15 Si235 it would give you essentially a internet encircling the globe in space.
01:15 epictang0 Si235: who cares about recovery...good luck getting any type of regulatory approval...there is enough space junk as it is
01:15 epictang0 Si235: along with insane amounts of lag
01:15 Si235 send out data to deep space, and have relays that just relay it back, your storage is limited to the distance and fundamental limits of light time physics.
01:15 SparkyProjects Store important datafragmented throughout the satellites, you woild need a library listing to get useful data from them
01:16 Si235 nah, there are lots of countries that don't care or abide by that, and they will launch your payload into orbit.
01:16 Si235 that's easy, its not like space is really that high up, you can have a open source reference designs that allow anyone to interface with the sat's.
01:16 Si235 then you can even do computation with space time it self.
01:16 epictang0 Si235: and the US will gladly remove anything that flies out of those countries
01:17 Si235 where by you structure the computation such that the structure of the data does a computation.
01:17 Si235 so you are fusing the data with scalable computation.
01:18 SparkyProjects "The server farm with security that is way above the cloud" <---- marketing slogan :D
01:18 Si235 nah, they don't really have a easy time doing so once it gets up into space, and if your sat's are small say a soft ball in size or smaller, and there are 1000 put into orbit in a single launch the US would be powerless to do so, and economically with their current methods it wouldn't be feasible. But it would be very feasible for a single launch to launch 1000-10000 micro / nano sats.
01:18 Si235 LOL ;)
01:18 Si235 exactly.
01:19 epictang0 it wouldent make it to space...see north korea
01:19 Si235 and if you created a design where anyone could implement a simple transceiver to tap into the space cloud with off the shelf components you can't shut it down.
01:19 Si235 and you can use types of TOR technologies with the data / network topology, etc...
01:19 Si235 nah.
01:19 Si235 there are many countries where you can put a space launch up there.
01:19 Si235 North Korea is a bad bet because they don't do commerical space launches.
01:20 epictang0 Si235: they cant even do domestic space launches....
01:20 Si235 but there are many countries that do, and several private countries, and the US doesn't have ultimate veto power of what goes up into space or not.
01:20 Si235 in fact there are several microsat / cubsat / nanosat programs.
01:20 epictang0 Si235: *pats head* you believe that
01:20 Si235 and many amateur sat's in orbit.
01:20 Si235 so I don't think getting up there is impossible.
01:20 Si235 I've even talked with several space launch companies.
01:21 Si235 the unique thing here is a cluster of small sats that maneuver themselves  into position over many months from a single launch.
01:21 Si235 this is what is unique here.
01:21 Si235 you are not going to be able to shoot down 1000 sat's.
01:22 Si235 and they can go into somewhat far distances from earth if you don't care about packet latency.
01:22 epictang0 dont have to...destroy ground control
01:22 Si235 but the streaming time will still be good even if in deep space.
01:22 Si235 yeah, but how would you do that? if A. you don't know what  is there, it just looks like a single sat from ground. and B. you don't launch from the US, and C. you use a country that is supportive of the project?
01:22 SparkyProjects There's a private company that have sent a space freighter to ISS, you could hitch a ride, then let the ISS astronauts toss them out when they pass the right places
01:23 Si235 honestly that would work just fine.
01:23 epictang0 spacex is not a private company...nasa has alot of the strings
01:23 Si235 we are talking about sending something up about the size of a 55 gallon drum that contains with in it 1000 small independently maneuverable sat's.
01:23 Si235 you don't have to use them.
01:24 SparkyProjects ah, thought it was private, but with funding from NASA
01:24 Si235 there is the European space agency, Places in Russia, Kahzasan, etc...
01:24 Si235 the US doesn't have a monopoly on sat. launches, even israel can launch a small payload into orbit.
01:24 Si235 and this is considered a small payload.
01:24 epictang0 SparkyProjects: cut off the funding, what do you have?
01:24 Toastdude joined #thegeekgroup
01:24 Si235 and once it makes it to orbit its game over.
01:25 Si235 little micro ion thrusters manuver the sat's to position and keep them where they need to be, weather it be in geo locusts, or orbits, or what have you...
01:26 Si235 and the ability to communicate with them can be spread by aggregating their sensors to form a sort of space based radio telescope much like the VLA in reverse, that way any box that sits on a desk in any house/company can communicate with them. That way you can bring the S/N ratio down to levels that let even a cell phone communicate with the devices.
01:27 Si235 heck maybe the devices should have the ability to react to statistical data from a phone's connection to communicate with them.
01:27 epictang0 http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Outer_Space_Treaty_of_1967
01:27 BotSteve Title: Outer Space Treaty of 1967 - Wikisource
01:28 Si235 initially a asymmetric connection where they unlock / initialize the data transfer but it comes back bridged through the internet to the device through its ISP based connection.
01:28 epictang0 like i said...good luck trying to get a country to agree to article vi and vii
01:28 Si235 The treaties don't mean much, since we violate them on a daily basis, as does china, etc...
01:28 Si235 we have exploded nuclear weapons in space.
01:29 epictang0 yes...that was before 1967
01:29 Si235 we have shot down sat's in space, and we create tons of debris,
01:29 Si235 still though...
01:29 Si235 I'm just saying.
01:29 Si235 I don't think we should let such things limit us.
01:29 Si235 this is for the benefit of all human kind.
01:30 Si235 and I think you can put updatable paths that download into the micro sats and collision avoidance, and a basic ability to self destruct if necessary, one to kill a possible enemy kill vehicle, and #2 to destroy the sat if it becomes a danger to anything else.
01:30 Si235 so I think they can be made safe.
01:31 Si235 and take a country like China which in the next decade or so will be a global supper power not really listening to the US, I think such things can be bought for a price.
01:31 Si235 Its all about timing.
01:31 Si235 and besides you only need a few launches.
01:32 epictang0 as someone who used to work for a 3 letter agency and has experienced 4 launches himself...i think you are sorely mistaken as to what is involved
01:32 Si235 I have an idea.
01:32 Si235 and I know where there is an idea there is a way.
01:33 Si235 it just may take a while.
01:33 Si235 The US doesn't own space.
01:33 Si235 and if you can safely design a system that will put its payload up into space with out causing huge issues with other states property I don't see an issue.
01:34 Si235 and I think we can deep space launch the first test, so its not going to effect anyone.
01:34 Si235 and honestly you could even implement it here on earth with drops that say distribute 1 million of these nano communications objects spread around the globe.
01:34 Si235 so there again is a way space or not to make it happen.
01:35 Si235 and if we have quantum communication like quantum entanglement we could even make this work with a n^2-n/2 type of network...
01:35 Si235 I dunno, but I think something like this is born out of the idea, and then these other things are hammered through, and given that amateur groups launch stuff into space, I see no reason something like this won't fly.
01:36 Si235 and for enough money you could purchase your own rocket, former ICBM, or something of that nature and just launch it your self.
01:36 Si235 not like the US controls all member states.
01:36 epictang0 right...however if a state deems you as a threat, say goodbye to any type off comms to the cluster...we have birds that can see pennies on a sidewalk, i am nearly 100% sure they can find and successfully shutdown your base
01:37 epictang0 it might be an 'accident'
01:37 Si235 that is just it there isn't the necessary ability to do that, and the us can't exactly go around all over the world hitting targets at will, they still have limitations, and you can always place the device cluster in a mobile ICBM platform to launch it into space.
01:38 Si235 the cluster is distibuted, so you can't really shut it down.
01:38 epictang0 Si235: keep telling yourself that...and ask bin laden if we had permission from pakistan for that raid
01:38 Si235 and the system can use a random pattern and frequency of radio waves such that you can't use them to lock onto them in space, and you could have a smaller nano sat's that actually facilitate the com's numbering in the millions that are launched up.
01:39 Si235 We would never attempt that sort of maneuver in china, or in many other countries.
01:39 Si235 and that was a high profile target.
01:39 epictang0 lol...you keep thinking that
01:39 Si235 this system doesn't really have any military value.
01:40 epictang0 it doesnt need a military value...
01:40 Si235 China, Russia, Israel, France, India, etc seem to launch into space at will with out us oversight.
01:40 Si235 and its not like you have to tell people what the payload is ahead of time, you can swap it out at the last minute and launch.
01:40 Si235 once up not a damn thing current technology can do about it.
01:41 epictang0 how do you think russia is funding their operations (keep in mind, they used to SELL spots to the ISS to fund their launches)
01:41 epictang0 and mir for that matter
01:41 Si235 and there is nothing in the 1967 treaty that prohibits launching multiple sat's in a single payload, so who has to say any such thing is against the "law"?
01:42 Si235 I don't think anything about my system is fundamentally illegal, I'm just putting up 1000 sat's with a single launch, and that is piggy backed on another launch mind you.
01:42 Si235 I say its doable.
01:42 Si235 I'm sure its not going to easy; great things never are!
01:42 Si235 however there is no need to be so negative about it.
01:42 epictang0 States shall be responsible for national space activities whether carried out by governmental or non-governmental entities;
01:42 Si235 sure.
01:42 Si235 obviously.
01:42 epictang0 good luck finding a country to back you...
01:43 Si235 and we are not trying to destroy what is out there.
01:43 epictang0 it doesnt matter
01:43 Si235 I think its a question of money, if you had a billion dollars behind it you could easily make it happen.
01:43 SparkyProjects left #thegeekgroup
01:43 Si235 though designing the microsat's would be a challange.
01:43 epictang0 i global comms grid that is unable to be shutdown by a government actor is not going to get the blessing of any country
01:43 epictang0 as such a grid can be then used against the country
01:43 Si235 they don't have to know that is what its for.
01:43 epictang0 or any other country
01:44 Si235 it can be a space sensor network.
01:44 Si235 and it could sense space debris.
01:44 Si235 but a small firmware update and viola.
01:44 Si235 and you can send it into deep space.
01:44 Si235 it doesn't need to be in orbit around the earth for phase one.
01:44 epictang0 you dont think that whomever is launching that vehicle is going to know down to componant level what is onboard?
01:44 epictang0 lol
01:44 Si235 it has the same things, just different software.
01:45 Si235 I'm just saying, there are easy ways to mask / cloak it.
01:45 Si235 and then you just have the hardware updated from earth.
01:45 Si235 and bingo its doing what its doing.
01:45 epictang0 lol...you really underestimate the intel community
01:45 Si235 where there is a will there is a way, where there is a wind there is a way.
01:45 Si235 see that is the beauty of something like this, its dumb and simple, so yes I do.
01:46 HighMan XD All I see is Si235 and epictang0 talking
01:46 epictang0 and that will be your downfall..
01:46 Si235 you can easily implement it, and then you have a flexible enough architecture that it can reconfigure.
01:46 epictang0 right...but i am saying it wont even make it to that point
01:46 epictang0 hell, i would be surprised if it made it off the ground
01:47 Si235 heck you could start off as 10 sat's on a single launch to start, and maybe those sats can give birth to others? I dunno, just an idea worth exploring.
01:47 epictang0 HighMan: i am rather entertained right now
01:47 HighMan XD
01:47 HighMan :P
01:47 Si235 maybe you have robots that make the things in space and birth them (this all be it far fetched wouldn't be if you could really bring about the size to a B.B. something that can almost be printed in space?)
01:48 Si235 you can call me cray, and say what I'm dreaming off is impossible, but its still my dream, and I'm free to dream...If I cannot dare to dream of that which isn't how can I create that of which doesn't exist?
01:48 epictang0 Si235: where are you going to birth these...manufacturing things in space is FAR different than on earth
01:49 Si235 even the idea of the atom was first born in the dream of its existence, it was then that we were able to prod nature's deeper aspects to discover its nature.
01:49 epictang0 here we go...
01:49 Si235 obviously, but a interesting challenge nonetheless.
01:50 Si235 That is the beauty with nano technologies, in that we really start to break down these barriers, why not with something like this?
01:50 Si235 why not some creative thinking that eludes to something new, that hasn't been done before? after all how do things that haven't been done before get done?
01:51 Si235 I'm saying I'm inventing / conceiving of a global internet that is out of the hands of any government / entity that is distributed / self evolving, scalable, self repairing, and existing...
01:51 Si235 who and how are you to tell me that what I dream can't be?
01:52 epictang0 tell you what...
01:52 Si235 because of some arcane law, laws are invented propaganda of human beings with vested interests in what was generally than what can be!
01:52 epictang0 build it
01:52 Si235 now we are talking!
01:52 Si235 thank you!
01:52 Si235 :)
01:52 epictang0 then i can dance around and say I told you so
01:53 Si235 heck they could be floating weather balloons with a global launch of say 1 million that orbit in the stratosphere of our earth! that prove the basic technology.
01:53 Si235 see that is just it, its not dependent on space...
01:53 Si235 especially with quantum communications.
01:53 Si235 weather balloons are cheap, and you just keep launching new nodes.
01:54 Si235 its just a graph made of nodes and edges.
01:54 Si235 I think you could design them to stay up long enough with staggered launches to keep the system afloat!
01:54 Si235 sorry to deluge the channel with a brain dump.
01:55 * Si235 is feeling inspired
01:55 epictang0 there was a company that tried to do the whole balloon thing...failed miserably
01:55 epictang0 they were near OK/TX if i remember correctly
01:55 Si235 so, there are lots of failures to be expected for success it doesn't mean the concept is flawed! the implementation may have been though.
01:56 epictang0 http://www.spacedata.net/
01:56 BotSteve Title: Space Data
01:56 Si235 The point is it doesn't take much to do that, and if you had enough nodes and the right architecture for the system it could work just fine or at least prove the concept before launching into space.
01:56 Si235 I often find I learn more from my failure than my success.
01:56 Si235 And I'm not stupid to assume that something like this will require some serious computational hardware.
01:56 Si235 and serious cash.
01:57 Si235 but if we could launch say 100 simultaneous launches around the globe and get a working network, then we would have something.
01:57 Si235 and you don't need space approval to launch.
01:57 Si235 it can be developed incrementally.
01:58 Si235 besides this entire thing may be moot with quantum entangled communications.
01:58 Si235 since you could locate the nodes terrestrially and achieve the same thing.
01:58 Si235 Think about some of the concepts that I've introduced in this conversation...
01:59 Si235 the concept of computing with space time it self, storing data based on speed of light physics, sort of a refresh like dynamic ram works, but with the vastness of space for the refresh medium, quantum communication, etc, these are some interesting ideas to dream with!
02:00 Si235 we could store a lot of information by just plunking down a little probe on Mars, and sending data to it where all it does is echo the data back.
02:00 Si235 not many entities would expend the resources to destroy such a probe.
02:00 Si235 I'm just saying...
02:01 Si235 we can do a lot of creative things with this stuff...
02:01 lwq_laptop "video rejected (length of video is too long)" FUCK YOU YOUTUBE
02:01 Si235 my final thought on creativity and what is possible boils down to this...
02:02 Si235 if you take a 32x32 grid where the grid positions can be either on or off, there are more possible combinations than there are atoms in the known universe...
02:02 Si235 putting that in perspective: there are 6.022 x 10^23 atoms per mole.
02:02 Si235 one mole is the atomic weight of the compound or atom where its mass equals that number of atoms.
02:03 Si235 now that is a huge number.
02:03 Si235 now the combinatorial expression on a modern computer display is over many orders of magnitude than that...
02:05 Si235 now this means that what we can put down on a single sheet of paper is greater in depth generally speaking than the possible number of atoms in the known universe! this is profound, so it means that our ingenuity of what is possible hasn't even begun to be explored! And this would be if we took just a random assortment of 1024 items, that we decided how they were used and combined exceeds the number of atoms in the universe...
02:05 Si235 even data storage doesn't have this sort of density of being able to store at the atomic level yet.
02:05 Si235 if we did I'd have 6.022 x 10^23 hard drive magnitude storage available.
02:05 Si235 and we don't have anything close to that yet!
02:06 Si235 So what I find so strange is other humans go around limiting a scope of creativity that is for all tense and purposes beyond the comprehension of a single human being...
02:06 Si235 its boggles the mind.
02:07 Monkeh Mmmm, hot glue.
02:07 Si235 With just a single sheet of paper I have more possibilities of what can go on that page of paper than all of the atoms in the known universe...
02:08 Si235 seems like we should just be more open minded to the possibilities of what can be, rather than our "laws" ; invented at that for limiting what we are capable of!
02:09 Si235 laws, preconceptions, and many aspects of "ridgid" human thinking are just as susceptible to change as any other aspect of the universe it self, and the only constant we do have is change!
02:10 epictang0 Monkeh: i love the smell of heated hot glue
02:10 Si235 and even in the existing frameworks of interaction the combinatorial search and creation space is beyond the comprehension/.
02:10 Monkeh epictang0: I.. do not I do find it really handy stuff, though
02:10 Monkeh Can't have a PCB made so you can screw it in? GLUE!
02:11 Monkeh Ah, crap, I think that glue's going to stop the lid going on
02:11 Si235 The best use I've found to date for hot glue was for attaching things to my wall with mounting plates, where I'd put enough hot glue over a large enough surface area to be able to mount and frame just about anything needed with out generally piercing the wall, and allowing huge degrees of flexibility.
02:11 Monkeh There are much stronger adhesives for that :P
02:12 Si235 yes, but they are also more permanent.
02:12 Si235 like liquid nails, etc...
02:12 yNos Cprossu: you around?
02:12 Si235 what made this work well was I could take the plate off, but it still held very well for the vertical forces applied to it.
02:12 Si235 and on many wall surfaces it left no marks that were visible.
02:15 Monkeh There we go
02:15 Monkeh And thus, a TTL adapter was born
02:16 Si235 :)

03:05 KawaiiJess http://www.opencarry.org/wa.html
03:05 BotSteve Title: Washington  Summary
03:05 BatSteve My guess is that the school will say "No knives of any kind" and there will be nothing you can do about it.
03:05 KawaiiJess Washington State follows British legal tradition, which states that anything that is not proscribed as unlawful is lawful. So the real question is; where can you NOT carry in Washington ?
03:06 tonsofpcs knives are funny in different states.
03:06 KawaiiJess Washington is an open carry state
03:07 astro73|roam brb
03:08 Fulsy found out why that amp didn't work
03:08 tonsofpcs in NY, my folding knife is not a weapon.  In NJ, it's a deadly weapon.  If it were a bit longer in NY it wouldnt be legal at all, if it weren't a folding knife it'd be a weapon but that's ok as long as it is peacebound within the limits of an incorporated city or village....
03:08 KawaiiJess BatSteve, as it is, I already talked with some officers down at the public transit plaza because I was asking them about knives on the buses and they said I can bring my knife on the buses as long as it's in a sheath and that Washington is an open carry state and I can carry it concealed or not anywhere in Washington without any kind of permit
03:09 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: idk about WA, but in many states private venues (yes, public schools are private venues) can restrict access based on most anything - including "you cant be here with a knife"
03:09 epictang0 KawaiiJess: do you have a CPL? sounds like you are asking for a problem...just be careful as to not brandish said open carried knife
03:10 astro73 joined #thegeekgroup
03:10 epictang0 and brandishing is very subjective
03:10 epictang0 if in doubt...dont go there
03:10 KawaiiJess tonsofpcs, in WA, private venues do not supersede the law
03:10 BatSteve tons and I are thinking the same thing.  For example, in michigan, I can say "Screw your CPL, take your gun off my property"
03:11 epictang0 ^---this
03:11 KawaiiJess There was apparently an arena in the area that had no guns/knives signs and they were sued and had to remove the signs because WA is an open carry state
03:11 astro73|roam joined #thegeekgroup
03:11 KawaiiJess And epictang0, I would never brandish the knife unless someone was threatening my life
03:12 KawaiiJess You have to be an idiot to wave something like that around
03:12 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: uh... the supreme court has held up time and place restrictions in semipublic space....
03:12 KawaiiJess And that's actually against the law anyways
03:12 LemPhone joined #thegeekgroup
03:12 BatSteve (if someone was threatening your life, it wouldn't be brandishing anyway, it'd be self-defense)
03:12 LemPhone bleh, sweaty lemming
03:12 epictang0 like i said...brandishing is subjective...
03:12 KawaiiJess Yeah ^
03:12 epictang0 for example...
03:12 KawaiiJess And no epictang0, I don't have a CPL
03:12 KawaiiJess I don't need one
03:13 KawaiiJess In WA, you can conceal or open carry knives without a CPL
03:15 epictang0 a couple years back, I was open carrying in my shoulder holster that I usually have below my suit on the way back from a meeting...i removed my suit jacket and left it in my car when i got out and pumped gas (it was like 85 degrees that day), went into gas station, got a drink...paid for my shit, went back to my truck there were 2 cops waiting for me...
03:16 BatSteve KawaiiJess: Not being from Washington, I don't know for sure, but I predict that you'll either be asked not to carry your knife or else someone will find some other rule that you're violating and ask you to leave based on that.
03:16 tonsofpcs oh, right, i forgot, we're like the wild west in NY - if you have a weapon you have to register it with the sherrif when you enter his county and he can issue permission to carry non-peacebound
03:16 epictang0 the store owner called them and said i was brandishing...
03:16 epictang0 completely total bullshit...
03:16 KawaiiJess BatSteve, are you referring to the school?
03:16 BatSteve yeah
03:17 KawaiiJess I'm not intending to open carry at school. I just want to know the laws
03:17 LemPhone I have 2 knives on my person 99% of the time
03:17 LemPhone gerber scout 600 and an artifact
03:17 KawaiiJess I already know I can basically do whatever the hell I want with it besides brandish it in public
03:17 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: does the school have a security force of some kind?
03:17 epictang0 LemPhone: I do as well...My leatherman and my SOG Flash 2
03:18 KawaiiJess Yeah, the security team at my college campus didn't know the law and had to ask their supervisor, who basically said no longer than 4" and no spring mechanisms
03:18 tonsofpcs they probably know them unless they're all new....
03:18 epictang0 there is your answer
03:18 LemPhone I also have a bike lock which makes a very effective flail
03:18 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: that sounds like the NY law
03:18 LemPhone have had to hit someone with it before, he didn't come back for seconds
03:19 KawaiiJess epictang0, what I was getting at is it shouldn't matter because of the RCW law
03:19 KawaiiJess Unless the school has the kind of authority the courthouse has
03:19 KawaiiJess The courthouse forbids everything
03:19 KawaiiJess Presumably because it's government
03:19 BatSteve And that's sort of what I'm saying - the owner of a property usually has a whole lot of say in what does and doesn't go on there.
03:20 KawaiiJess Nope
03:20 tonsofpcs except mine must be <4" not <=4"
03:20 KawaiiJess In washington, business can't say shit about guns/knives
03:20 KawaiiJess businesses*
03:20 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: if you enter my property, I have the right to ask you to leave for any reason.
03:21 KawaiiJess That's what the officer at STA said. Though STA apparently found out they have the authority the courthouse does because they're sort of city owned or something so in a year or two, they might ban guns/knives on buses
03:21 KawaiiJess Which would be really annoying
03:22 BatSteve that's pretty interesting.
03:23 KawaiiJess Washington is a "Stand Your Ground" state, in which there is no duty to retreat in the face of what would be perceived by an ordinary person to be a threat to themselves or others by another person that is likely to cause serious injury or death. It is a misdemeanor to aim a firearm "whether loaded or not, at or towards any human being". Unless the person is acting in self-defense, they can be charged with "brandishing" and th
03:23 KawaiiJess reatening someone with a deadly weapon
03:23 KawaiiJess Seems to me like all across the board, WA is pretty lax on gun/knife laws
03:23 tonsofpcs again, not a public space.  businesses that dont restrict access are semi- or quasi-public.  places that restrict access (my home, a school, etc) are private spaces...
03:23 epictang0 KawaiiJess: where do you live, there may be municipal laws that cover it
03:24 KawaiiJess I already looked at Spokane's municipal code and they just copy pasted the Washington state laws
03:24 tonsofpcs there may be further deliniation of types of spaces in WA that are relevant to time/place restrictions
03:24 epictang0 is this a fixed blade or folder?
03:25 KawaiiJess Fixed
03:25 BatSteve KawaiiJess: It looks like you've done your research.  I guess at this point your options are "Don't carry" or "Carry, and be willing to accept the consequences if your interpretation turns out to be wrong"

03:27 BatSteve and I wouldn't trust anyone who claimed they were anyway
03:27 KawaiiJess BatSteve, I was more just getting a second opinion on the way the law read

03:27 KawaiiJess My next step is to go talk to a chief of police or something
03:28 KawaiiJess Waste of money if you ask me
03:28 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: not being familiar with WA law, a word that means something obvious to us might be defined as something different in WAcode
03:28 KawaiiJess Orly
03:28 BatSteve KawaiiJess: I agree with your reading of the law, there's nothing in the law you linked that says you can't.  Realistically, I think that people will look for ways to stop you from doing what you intend to do.

03:29 tonsofpcs for instance, NY has a whole section of code defining "weapon" and variants.  an object can be a "deadly weapon" without being a "weapon".....
03:30 epictang0 further, i think they will have a problem with the fact it is a 7 inch knife...you are probably going to make some people unconfortable to the point where they will find something to prevent you from carrying it
03:30 tonsofpcs WA might define "knife" somewhere...
03:30 wannabe-work if someone wants to bring me fast food i won't stop you :P
03:31 * wannabe-work only has peanut butter, nutella (no bread in here, its in the car), and popcorn
03:31 KawaiiJess This is where WA defines what a deadly weapon is: http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=9.41.250
03:31 BotSteve Title: RCW 9.41.250: Dangerous weapons — Penalty — Exemption for law enforcement officers.
03:31 KawaiiJess Just basically says no knives with spring loaded mechanisms, etc
03:31 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: but words in there mightnhave further definitions - codified or case-law'd.
03:32 eadthem how big of a town is it?
03:32 lwq_laptop you know whats the most funnies thing to say in this channel?
03:32 tonsofpcs "spring loaded mechanism" migt include things that to a layperson are not such.
03:32 BatSteve lwq_laptop: boobs
03:32 KawaiiJess What's really interested is you can apparently open carry a katana in WA because the officers at STA said they have a guy who does it and it pisses them off, but he's not allowed on the buses because it's not in a sheath
03:32 tonsofpcs lwq_laptop: HighMan.
03:32 KawaiiJess interesting*
03:32 epictang0 http://apps.leg.wa.gov/documents/billdocs/2011-12/Pdf/Bills/Session%20Law%202012/2347-S.SL.pdf
03:32 eadthem in the kansas city area you can call the non emergancys number to talk to someone in law enforcement
03:33 lwq_laptop someone make me the cheapest computer you can with the sabertooth mobo, 500gb hhd, 4gb memory, and a cool orange looking case
03:33 epictang0 that is the changes for 2012 to rcw 9.41.250
03:33 eadthem its for those kinds of questions as well as no emergancy police reports and etc
03:33 lwq_laptop oh an a decent cpu
03:33 BatSteve KawaiiJess: if I were to give you some advice, it would be "Try to get something from the chief of police in writing"
03:33 lwq_laptop something like 2mhz
03:33 tonsofpcs eadthem: in upstate NY, i call an operator and ask for such a number and they say 911 is listed....
03:33 KawaiiJess Good idea BatSteve
03:34 eadthem ya i wouldnt call 911 for that
03:34 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: do you have sherrifs out there or just pd?
03:34 BatSteve That way, you're not counting on the "well I heard it from a guy" argument
03:34 tonsofpcs eadthem: ya, after 5 min of explaining to thwm i got a dispatch #....
03:34 KawaiiJess I see sheriff cop cars all the time in Spokane
03:34 eadthem well there prob deputes but same diff
03:35 tonsofpcs KawaiiJess: not sure about WA but in NY and NJ, sherrifs and PD are completely different agencies.
03:35 eadthem you could always email the sherif
03:35 eadthem im sure he she has a address
03:35 KawaiiJess Yeah
03:35 tonsofpcs in NY, the sherrif would be the one to talk to, in NJ, the PD.....
03:35 KawaiiJess As I recall, the chief of police for spokane is actually a woman. Pretty sure I saw her speak at an event regarding police brutality
03:36 eadthem so the question is about carrying a 7 inch fixed blade knife?
03:36 KawaiiJess in a sheath, yes
03:36 KawaiiJess Open/concealed carry
03:36 eadthem mmm im use to nebraska and kansas
03:36 epictang0 those are 2 different beasts
03:36 tonsofpcs in NY, the sherrif is still a wild-west-movie-style judge/jury/executioner position
03:37 eadthem lots of huters so such a thing would be called a hunting tool  provided you arent   banishing, swinging, exessivly displaying ....
03:37 KawaiiJess epictang0, the officers at STA told me I can conceal carry whatever knife I want. Knives don't fall under concealed permits in WA because the permit is specifically for pistols
03:37 BatSteve Yep, same in michigan, the P in CPL stands for pistol, not weapon.
03:38 Katemonster I'd just like to mention that Jess looks hilarious carrying that knife on her belt.
03:38 KawaiiJess So they basically don't seem to care what you do with knives
03:38 eadthem its pritty common once you leave the KC metro  to see shotguns and knives in the back if pickup trucks all over
03:38 eadthem same for nebraska
03:38 KawaiiJess Katemonster, you're just jelly :3
03:39 epictang0 i would just call/email a local attorney...I have found that they are usually happy to help if it doesnt take a significant chunk out of their day
03:40 eadthem thats a point to  the county attorney or a general attorney
03:40 epictang0 hell, I have several on facebook that I have messaged on occasion
03:40 eadthem the latter might help with a small thing on the basis that you might give them busness
03:41 Katemonster She's 90lb of cuteness with a ridiculous combat knife on her hip.  It's jarring and difficult to take seriously.  (I think she needs to keep doing it.)
03:41 KawaiiJess LOL
03:41 BatSteve I agree with epictang0 and BatSteve.  Either the police or an attorney.
03:42 epictang0 eadthem: attorneys are good to build a rapport with for various reasons..:-)
03:42 eadthem paticuarly if your considering carrying a knife :p
03:43 tonsofpcs i have one attorney on fb... should find more....
03:43 eadthem ive seen a couple of pepole at work whip out a 4-8 inch knife out of knowhere to open a box or  cut a wire at work
03:43 eadthem 2 pepole in paticular
03:43 tonsofpcs (she taught my law class)
03:43 eadthem both like to hunt a lot
03:43 lwq_laptop anyone think this is good?

03:44 eadthem i think someone who needs more than whats on a gerber or letherman  is compensating anyhow :p
03:44 tonsofpcs eadthem: ya, that's what multitools are for :)
03:44 epictang0 eadthem: agreed
03:44 KawaiiJess But I can't pull out my leatherman as fast as I can pull out my Tanto D:
03:45 epictang0 im gonna gut this here deer and then time for boxes!
03:45 tonsofpcs i switched to a folding knife when i found that a decent sized leatherman is technically a weapon and the knife not.....
03:45 BatSteve KawaiiJess:  Are you saying that you regularly expect to find yourself in situations where the speed at which you can draw your knife is going to be crucial?  :]
03:45 KawaiiJess Lol
03:45 tonsofpcs i do still carry a mini leatherman sometimes
03:46 KawaiiJess No. :P I just want to carry the large knife :o It's more fun that way
03:46 tonsofpcs BatSteve: you've never gotten a giant box of new toys, have you? ;)
03:46 eadthem just saying  ive driven all over KC  even down banister road a couple times. ive never felt the need to carry a weapon.
03:46 Katemonster Next time I'm over I'm taking a photo of you like you were last night, with said knife.
03:46 KawaiiJess I think you guys forget I'm a transsexual and people have been giving me shit lately
03:46 tonsofpcs eadthem: see, you're using the 'w' word.
03:46 eadthem mmm i wonder if banister road has a wiki page    just might
03:46 KawaiiJess And the murder rate of transsexuals is many fold greater than regular murder

03:49 BatSteve I don't think of you as transsexual, just as female.  I was under the impression that that was more respectful to your wishes.
03:49 KawaiiJess It is BatSteve, but people can still peg me as a transsexual easily
03:49 KawaiiJess I just had a guy two days ago at the plaza walk near me and say "Hey chico" in a sarcastic and intimidating tone
03:50 BatSteve ugh, I don't like the holes-in-the-handle design of that gerber
03:50 Katemonster Being verbally assaulted by strangers on the street ain't fun.
03:50 epictang0 KawaiiJess: a knife isnt going to change that
03:50 KawaiiJess He was with a group of guys that looked up to no good
03:50 BatSteve ....did they start to make trouble in your neighborhood?
03:50 KawaiiJess Well the last time I checked, self defenses number one rule is to run away, but if someone tries to back me in a corner or some shit, I'd really rather have something better than some damn pepper spray
03:51 BatSteve Did you get in one little fight and your mom got scared?
03:51 tonsofpcs BatSteve: the paraframe?  the winchester is much more comfortable than the gerber branded ond
03:51 tonsofpcs *one
03:51 * egrsteve returns to lurking as to not drive tgg|wannabe crazy
03:51 BatSteve Yeah, the paraframe
03:51 * Katemonster hi-fives BatSteve
03:52 epictang0 KawaiiJess: unless you know how to use it, and have taken classes for such tactice i would advise against it...
03:52 Katemonster we were just having a very sad conversation earlier today that she's never seen the show.
03:52 epictang0 you will wind up having that knife used against you
03:52 KawaiiJess epictang0, that's why kate and I were discussing going to a martial arts class to use it properly
03:52 BatSteve that's terrible, my joke went to waste (well except for you Katemonster.   ::highfive:: )
03:52 KawaiiJess And I already brought that argument up epictang0
03:53 tonsofpcs BatSteve: the edges are chamfered
03:53 epictang0 just know that they arent going to get into knife play in the first class...lol
03:53 * Katemonster isn't in the mood to talk about knives or self defense right now, and is leaving.
03:53 KawaiiJess Well no shit... I took martial arts one summer and got bored because it was horrifically boring
03:54 KawaiiJess Err
03:54 KawaiiJess And quit because it was horrifically boring*
03:54 eadthem i can recommend ATA tae kwon do   They do teach weapons once you get up a couple belts
03:54 epictang0 well they arent going to tell you how to properly disarm someone in a summer...
03:54 KawaiiJess epictang0, it was general karate when I was like 16
03:54 eadthem i would visit a couple schools before deciding    the schools that are good are the ones that have the lower color belts spar with black belts
03:55 KawaiiJess I'd just ask some of my friends who are black belts
03:55 epictang0 i recommend akido or ju jitsu...knowing how to grapple is a good skill to have
03:56 epictang0 locks and pressure points are good to know
03:56 eadthem i beleve disarming  as far as knifes go  that depends on the school.  The one i went to was a small one in the middle of nebraska,  and at yellow belt we started doing some of the weapon stuff.  The teacher liked to start weapons earlyr than normal, because its useful and fun.
03:57 Katemonster I would recommend a school that focuses on self defense rather than on competitive fighting.
03:57 eadthem ya TKD dosent do much on pressure points
03:57 epictang0 well the best way to win a knife fight is to take control of the knife...namely between the bones of the hand
03:58 epictang0 if necessary
03:58 eadthem what i learned was part of disarming
03:59 epictang0 also, Krav Maga...i was sparring a Marine the other day...
03:59 BatSteve I disagree, I'm pretty sure that the best way to win a knife fight is to make the decision early on to turn it into a gun fight, and then win that.
03:59 epictang0 they are teaching more and more KM as part of the HtH program
04:00 epictang0 BatSteve: negative...the goal is to control the pointy thing, unless you are carrying a gun...
04:00 Hackbat http://memerial.net/4493-dark-vador-black-burger
04:00 BotSteve Title: DARK VADOR BURGER
04:00 BatSteve I would also argue that the second best way to win a knife fight between you and someone is to turn it into a knife fight between you, someone, and several of your friends.
04:01 Katemonster I like batsteve's logic.
04:01 KawaiiJess Ya!
04:01 KawaiiJess That's why I don't feel it's unnecessary to carry a knife when Kate has a gun. ;)
04:01 epictang0 in a 1 to 1 fight though? backed in a corner...you control the knife...
04:01 BatSteve Well yes.
04:02 * Katemonster always has a gun.
04:02 BatSteve In the unfortunate instance that you happen to find yourself in a fair fight, controlling the knife is probably the correct thing to do.

04:09 tonsofpcs they apparently also made it with that grip filled

04:11 tonsofpcs the gerber handle design bothers me.  their 3-hole paraframe feels weird in my grip.  the 2-hole winchester branded one is much more comfortable.
04:12 tonsofpcs (and yes, gerber made them)
04:13 tonsofpcs they made it tanto and droppoint

08:08 Nekoroms i was just so disappointed in those remotes..
08:08 Nekoroms dont know what i do with one with infra red connection..
08:09 Nekoroms receiver is in my computers front panel so that makes the remote useless
08:10 Electricguy well.. as with any stereo or music player.. control the music perhaps?!
08:10 Nekoroms i have to be on the floor for the remote to work..
08:11 Nekoroms why cannot they put radio remotes with their soundcards
08:11 Electricguy i got 2 SB cards. both remotes got good range
08:11 Electricguy no problems at all
08:11 Nekoroms but you still have to point to the receiver with it..
08:12 Electricguy like with any IR remote
08:13 Nekoroms yep
08:13 Nekoroms radio remotes ftw
08:13 Experimentonomen hm my class A amp was actually running at 2.45A bias, not 1.5 as i first thought
08:13 Electricguy i don't really see the problem as that's a totally abvious thing with IR remotes.. :P
08:13 Nekoroms dunno how much more expensive it would be to make only radio remotes..
08:14 Electricguy quite a lot
08:14 Electricguy as radio modules cost more than IR LEDs and recivers..
08:17 Electricguy i still wonder what software i need for the remote to work on my audigy 2 nx card...
08:17 Nekoroms weirdest thing.. my sub dvb-t receiver has an ir remote... and the thing sits behind a bookshelf..
08:17 Electricguy intelliremote wont find it
08:17 Nekoroms Electricguy: software comes with the card.. try finding that cd
08:18 Electricguy good luck when i got the card, PSU and remote in a plastic bag with nothing else
08:18 Electricguy gonna google some
08:18 Nekoroms creative doesnt always give all the software to download from their website
08:18 Electricguy nah
08:18 Electricguy their download site is pretty shitty
08:20 Nekoroms i think some software isnt made by creative and they dont have the permission to put it up onto their site
08:21 Electricguy i think i found it
08:21 Electricguy if i manually selected applications on creatives download site i found a lot of fun stuff

20:21 Seroster For radiators it is =P
20:22 SparkyProjects1 We also had Flygt pumps for sewage and animal waste, they were big and heavt
20:22 Electricguy this is more like it..  http://www.mrengineering.co.uk/product_images/uploaded_images/yanbu_sw15_flygt_CP3500_126kw_01_144225921_std.jpg

23:23 masterofmonks Experimentonomen, it's bragging rights, he wants it to be able to motion control the thing.
23:24 masterofmonks wannabe1987, basically stitching the screens together.
23:24 wannabe1987 ahhhh for gaming or the like?
23:24 masterofmonks Correct.
23:24 masterofmonks Only I have always found that highly distracting.
23:25 masterofmonks The chassis of the monitors make blind spots, and that makes me crazy.
23:25 wannabe1987 so if you do printscreen it is one HUGE picture?  (4 screens across (or whatever))
23:25 masterofmonks Correct.
23:25 wannabe1987 "do you want to go jump on the tramp?!" "no, i have no energy, sister"  (she's 10...) "if i have energy, you have energy"  (i still feel like i'm not awake And i had COFFEE)
23:26 masterofmonks wannabe1987, Does your coffee have an event horizon?
23:26 wannabe1987 a what?
23:26 masterofmonks .wik event horizon
23:26 BotSteve "In general relativity, an event horizon is a boundary in spacetime beyond which events cannot affect an outside observer." - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Event_horizon
23:27 masterofmonks .wik roche limit
23:27 BotSteve "The Roche limit ( /ˈroʊʃ/), sometimes referred to as the Roche radius, is the distance within which a celestial body, held together only by its own gravity, will disintegrate due to a second celestial body's tidal forces exceeding the first body's gravitational [...]" - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roche_limit
23:27 masterofmonks Damn.
23:27 wannabe1987 i can't comprehend that, i don't understand, monks
23:27 masterofmonks Basically, the idea is once you cross the event horizon of a black hole nothing can escape, not even light.
23:28 wannabe1987 then no?
23:28 masterofmonks Then it's not strong enough.

23:32 masterofmonks It's devices like "coffee makers" that make people think there is some sort of magic to making good coffee.
23:33 masterofmonks It's honestly super easy....
23:33 wannabe1987 yep
23:33 wannabe1987 filter, coffee, water, drip drip drip
23:34 masterofmonks Correct, though nicetasting water is a huge help.
23:34 wannabe1987 i like my parents water
23:34 masterofmonks But a small strainer and a basket filter, make nice consistantly good coffee.
23:35 masterofmonks Assuming that you have nice consistantly good coffee grounds.
23:35 wannabe1987 i like my mothers coffee....she just doesn't have my creamer here (french vanilla).
23:35 * masterofmonks blinks.
23:35 wannabe1987 and she's got great coffee....from haiti and the like
23:35 wannabe1987 what?!  i don't drink it black!
23:35 lwq1996 i like my coffee black.
23:35 wannabe1987 too bitter that way
23:35 masterofmonks No, but at least do it the justice of using real cream.
23:35 lwq1996 it has to be the right coffee

23:37 masterofmonks lwq1996, I lack the proper anatomy for that.
23:37 lwq1996 will you be my pappa?
23:39 masterofmonks I don't think that is something that could be managed legally.
23:39 lwq1996 how so?
23:39 masterofmonks Well I doubt your parents would give you up for adoption for one.
23:41 lwq1996 can you give yourself up for adoption?
23:42 masterofmonks Not really, no.
