15:30 SparkyProjects That's ok, take the stuff home, and charge overtime for the amount of time staring at it and not being able to do anything :D
15:30 HighMan Hahahaha
15:30 mashpriborintorg 1x poweredge 9120 ups, borked for parts
15:31 HighMan Must be heavy lol
15:31 mashpriborintorg 2x crts for parts, and some random crap as printer server boxes
15:31 mashpriborintorg I do not take it for free, i give them 30 euro, it not in was going to the bin anyway
15:32 mashpriborintorg all is well used
15:32 mashpriborintorg very heavy, 2 car hauls at least
15:32 HighMan Overtime deserved.
15:32 mashpriborintorg yeah
15:33 mashpriborintorg I hope to retrieve my money by selling parts and scrap metals... when i'll have the stuff
15:33 HighMan ~37 usd not that much for lots of stuff
15:35 mashpriborintorg sure, but else when would have to pay for getting rid of it, stuff is taking room since years
15:35 Monkeh I could probably unbork that UPS :P
15:35 Monkeh Unless it's been Bodenized
15:36 HighMan Bodenized?
15:36 Monkeh HighMan: UPS teardown?
15:36 HighMan Uh...

15:37 mashpriborintorg the batteries are dead, 15 euros each for new ones, 8 of them
15:37 mashpriborintorg same batteries, in brown color
15:38 Monkeh Worth hooking up a PSU to it at least and see if it's functional
15:38 Monkeh If it is, it'll sell whole.
15:38 mashpriborintorg I will miss the special power cable, but I will tinker something and test it
15:39 mashpriborintorg It has been unplugged since 2007 at least, not good for the batteries
15:39 Monkeh Oh, they're dead by now in a big way.
15:39 Monkeh But the UPS.. probably nothing wrong with it.
15:40 mashpriborintorg except it's a dirty yellowish color and it weights a ton
15:40 Monkeh Someone will want it.
15:40 mashpriborintorg me :p
15:41 Monkeh You were going to scrap it :P
15:42 mashpriborintorg not sure yet what I will do with it, I'll have many other stuff to scrap
15:43 Monkeh If you weren't in the land of white flags, cheese, snails, and frogs, I'd have it off you.
15:43 Monkeh Can always use a big fat UPS
15:44 mashpriborintorg this one is a little overkilled for home use tho, except for hardcore geek home
15:44 Monkeh Who do you think you're talking to?
15:44 mashpriborintorg :D
15:48 mashpriborintorg ummm vintage hp 12c. people go crazy for it on ebay
15:49 mashpriborintorg good to know when you can grab them for 1 euro at fleamarkets
15:51 mashpriborintorg boxed and in good condition, it goes for more than 200 euros, easy
16:28 tonsofpcs 12c?
16:28 tonsofpcs oh
16:29 tonsofpcs I've got two of the sharp PC1500s :D
16:32 mashpriborintorg I also have a Novus Mathematician up for sale and it seems it will make a good price also

20:22 seroster Oi, Thermoelectric!
20:25 HighMan Oi seroster!
20:25 HighMan Seroster.
20:25 seroster BÖRK
20:25 HighMan Seroster!
20:34 mashpriborintorg going to sleep, bye
20:36 Toastdude Hi Seroster
20:36 seroster ello toast
20:37 HighMan -'
20:38 Toastdude How's it going?
20:39 seroster I'm sweaty, covered in stuff that my cat smells funny, my hands are two bloody lumps...
20:39 seroster And I made a trebuchet today.
20:40 Toastdude :D How big is it?
20:41 seroster Tiny
20:41 seroster It's made from scrap pieces of old printers
20:42 seroster About knee high
20:42 Toastdude Ah. Have you tested it yet?
20:42 seroster But I had to weld a shittonne, which is fun since I need welding training
20:42 seroster And it uses the spring from an old trampoline, which is PLENTY
20:42 seroster That single damn spring took my full weight (geared up) and it still didn't extend all the way
20:43 seroster That tiny damn thing got so much power I'll have  to strap it down to something big and heavy to even fire it
20:43 Toastdude So it's not a gravity-driven one; it uses a spring instead?
20:43 seroster Yep
20:43 Toastdude Ah, awesome. :D
20:43 seroster A trebuchet smaller than two meters high can't be gravity run
20:43 wannabe1987 masterofmonks: needs more wub :P
20:43 seroster I tried to release the spring when it wasn't tied down and the entire damn apparatus flew away
20:44 Toastdude I made one for my 6th grade history class a few years ago that is about 1.5m tall, and it was fine with gravity-driven power.
20:45 seroster How far did it fling?
20:45 seroster Few meters? Maybe a dozen?
20:46 Toastdude Only about 20m

20:55 Toastdude I want to make the kind where the weight drops straight down on a track..
20:55 Toastdude Instead of swinging
20:56 Toastdude A floating arm trebuchet.
20:58 lwq1996 i should set masterofmonks in a room full of bad dubstep
20:58 SparkyProjects1 Yeah, those are supposed to be more powerful, i tried making a model of one a couple of years ago, it's hard to get the cross tracks right for smooth operation
21:02 Toastdude They can gain a crapton of kinetic energy even before the projectile starts moving.
21:08 SparkyProjects1 I think also because the arm has a longer forward momentum it will throw it more forward, and not up into the air as much

21:25 seroster Btw, mine takes more to load than that floating arm one.

23:11 lwq1996 hello
23:26 seroster Oi lee
23:27 seroster Thermoelectric, are you good at xformer math?
23:33 seroster THEEEERMOOOO
23:33 seroster PAY ATTENTION TO ME
23:33 seroster Thermoelectric!
23:33 seroster I KNOW YOU ARE THERE!
23:33 seroster THERMO!
23:33 seroster Thermoelectric!!!
23:33 Thermoelectric Pfft.
23:33 seroster Lol
23:33 lwq1996 lol
23:34 Thermoelectric And no, I am not good at transformer math.
23:34 seroster Btw
23:34 seroster Hey, a MOT at 22kv would be safer than a MOT at 2.2kv
23:34 seroster 2.2kv is about an amp of juice, 22kv would be 100milliamps, which is just three (instead of thirty) times more than lethal =P
23:35 Thermoelectric Yeah, still lethal though. You try it!
23:35 seroster But.. Yeah, 22kv might be worse too
23:35 seroster But it would short to ground instantly and render the system safe xD
23:35 seroster But
23:35 Thermoelectric It jumps further. Would bite you easier.
23:35 seroster I want to find out how to feed a MOT with 2.2kv
23:36 Thermoelectric Put 2.2kV on it's primary, simple! :P

23:37 seroster Wtf you need a YT dl list for?
23:38 Thermoelectric I killed my quota yesterday night, haha.
23:38 seroster Thermoelectric, Long story short, the first mot couldn't push the second one
23:38 seroster The first one began smoking (spat on it and it sizzled)
23:38 seroster Quota? Please do explain. =P
23:38 masterofmonks And now for the daily dose of cat.

23:39 Thermoelectric Our penal colony puts limits on our intertubes.
23:39 Thermoelectric And me being me, left youtube-dl running (downloading EEVblog episodes) overnight, eating the 16GB left, haha.
23:40 masterofmonks The thing that gets me about quotas is this.. It's not like the internet is going to run out of funny cat videos or soemthing if everyone watches them.
23:40 Thermoelectric It's just to make money, simple as that. People want more quota, they pay more.
23:41 Thermoelectric I guess some still believe that our link to other countries is too small, but with the advent of the national broadband network rolling out FTTH, they still put quotas on that.
23:41 seroster Err
23:41 Thermoelectric So it can't be the links between countries.
23:42 seroster I pay for my speed
23:42 Thermoelectric And we pay for our usage.
23:42 seroster I could stream 100mb/s of porn 24/7

23:42 seroster Sir, I have something to say to you. Fuck your penal colony, fuck your kangaroos and fuck your fucking toads. =)
23:43 Thermoelectric Toads suck.
23:44 Thermoelectric Though, the FTTH plans are much cheaper and have much more quota, not showing the initial investment in getting the fibre connection installed at your house though... http://www.internode.on.net/residential/fibre_to_the_home/nbn_plans/
23:44 BotSteve Title: Internode :: Residential :: Fibre To The Home :: NBN Plans
23:46 exor674 I want FTTH :(
23:47 masterofmonks To be honest I am not certain what I would do with faster internet.
23:48 masterofmonks I have plenty of bandwith for everything I do, with bandwith left over.
23:48 Thermoelectric I think it'll lead to services moving to the internet, like TV.
23:49 masterofmonks Netflix?
23:49 masterofmonks Have had it for like 6 years?
23:49 Thermoelectric Yeah, but more widespread.
23:50 Thermoelectric Most people over here simply pick up radio TV signals, rather than have an internet feed.
23:50 * lwq1996 plays dubstep
23:50 * masterofmonks turns lwq1996 down.
23:51 * masterofmonks changes lwq1996's track to Brave New World by Iron Maiden.
23:51 lwq1996 huh?
23:51 lwq1996 lol
23:51 tonsofpcs heh
23:52 tonsofpcs masterofmonks: I don't need faster internet (altthough it'd be nice) I need internet fromm a provider who can actually provide internet.
23:52 lwq1996 lol
23:53 masterofmonks tonsofpcs, I have pretty good uptime.
23:54 tonsofpcs masterofmonks: my uptime isn't an issue.  The CMTS has some sort of buffer overrun is my bet.
23:54 masterofmonks Hey tonsofpcs did you ever get your tech licence?
23:54 tonsofpcs no
23:55 lwq1996 tech licence?

23:55 tonsofpcs I have 10 stations operating right now if you want to 'work' one though... doubt anyone here is close enough to get one of them except maybe lwq1996 or db.
23:55 masterofmonks Technician's licence for amature radio.
23:55 seroster .g how much current 0.75mm2
23:55 lwq1996 ah

23:56 lwq1996 what happens if they catch you doing radio stuff without a licence
23:56 masterofmonks tonsofpcs, I could hop on Echolink and off of a repeater near you.
23:56 wannabe1987 tonsofpcs: if bit put his radio on we couldn't get you?
23:56 seroster SparkyProjects1, 0.75mm2 should handle 4-5amps without much trouble, yes?
23:56 masterofmonks lwq1996, it depends on what you are doing and the band.
23:57 tonsofpcs masterofmonks: right, but echolink can't pick up 88-108 or 560MHzish, can it?
23:57 lwq1996 im planning to host a radio station
23:57 SparkyProjects1 yes it should
23:57 masterofmonks It can range from a warning, to a fine, to a really heafty fine, to prison.
23:57 masterofmonks lwq1996, What sort of radio station?
23:57 tonsofpcs lwq1996: note: you live in the FCC's back yard.
23:58 lwq1996 masterofmonks, music, talks, discussions
23:58 tonsofpcs also, you can probably get an LPFM license there
23:58 tonsofpcs lwq1996: zipcode?
