13:21 mgage__ morning
17:49 aubreyja hi
18:05 mgage__ hi
18:26 mgage__ aubreyja: just replying to arnie's comments on github
18:26 mgage__ repository
18:26 aubreyja I was just reading that exchange
18:29 mgage__ can you find the message you sent about getting a clean import from svn to git? --- something about author files
18:29 aubreyja here's the github version of the instructions about that: http://help.github.com/import-from-subversion/
18:29 aubreyja "Author mapping"
18:33 mgage__ I don't think we need it -- I'm looking at the history -- it's clear who authored the changes -- there is just not an automatic link to their email
18:34 mgage__ there were only about 5 of us changing the SVN in any case.
18:36 mgage__ I'm trying to get Grant's changes into my files.  He uploaded his repository directly to github so it's history isn't synced with the rest of us.  It's important that new contributors start with a clone of openwebwork/webwork2 (or pg) I think
18:41 aubreyja I can't find the original article I read - it may have been in one of the books, but I seem to recall it having a role in maintaining synced git and svn repositories with git-svn
18:44 mgage__ hmm -- ok -- but can we just add the author file for the future or do we need to reimport the svn repo into github -- in the latter case we might have some difficultiies getting everything synced
18:46 aubreyja good question - that's what I was mainly worried about…I'm still looking around
18:51 aubreyja maybe this would be a good question for Jason Grout
18:57 aubreyja also, I saw you had the clients working again, but working with what web services code? I've got svn r7019 on my server.  Do I need to update webwork2 so that John can test the current clients against our server?
18:58 mgage__ yes -- although I think he can test it agains hosted2 if you don't want to do that.  you'll need my github/mgage  branch  update_clients_take2 branch
18:59 aubreyja I don't mind updating (and I now have sudo access bwah, ha, ha)

23:02 mgage__ aubreyja: the master at github/mgage  now contains all the changes rolled together  -- also I have a google+ hangout going
