14:32 mgage_ morning
14:33 aubreyja hi - how's it going
14:34 mgage_ I'm going to be meeting with Vicki later (around noon EST) to discuss coding camp plans and also general organizational plans about who is doing what. Will you be around if I have questions for you?
14:34 aubreyja yep, I'll be here all day
14:34 mgage_ The list of active webworkers I came up with is at https://workflowy.com/shared/93612749-50ef-2fc3-6e50-db7ce1129f55/  you can add to it if you want.
14:34 aubreyja just grading, so eager for distractions :)
14:36 aubreyja that's a good list - really a good size group
14:36 mgage_ Things are going ok here -- I just got back from a week with my parents -- getting caught up on bills and taxes, etc.  I'll be a conference on analyzing networks and data using topology and geometry in new orleans next week -- so I'm scrambling to get things ready before i go.  (I'm still grading a topology midterm also -- it's hard to stay focused.  sigh )
14:37 aubreyja that sounds fun - the computational topology stuff?
14:38 mgage_ yes.
14:39 mgage_ http://dauns.math.tulane.edu/~mathweb/clifford2012/
14:39 aubreyja neat - maybe Jan Segert from my department is going - I'll have to ask him
14:40 mgage_ there was one at Vanderbilt this week, but I decided that the one in New Orleans was a better fit -- since I'm kind of hanger on for the subject more than a participant.
14:40 mgage_ ok -- I've got to go.  I'll talk to you a bit later
14:40 aubreyja ttyl
18:24 aubreyja Hi Mike - around?
18:24 mgage_ hi
18:25 aubreyja ah, never mind - I just saw your message about moodle
18:26 mgage_ Yeah -- I had not updated the configuration in the WSDL.pm file -- that's a little project to update that for github -- so that it configures itself automatically. (There is code in WebworkClient.pm that finds the location of global.conf and gets information from that.)
18:27 mgage_ we might also modify webwork.apache2-config  -- so it get's its moodle information from global.conf   -- which will make it even less likely that a misconfiguration can occur.
18:27 mgage_ I'm waiting to hear back from St. Olaf's whether this is fixed on their end
18:28 aubreyja I noticed you have test hooked up to github - that's great -
18:29 mgage_ yes -- and it's hooked up pretty painlessly via svn.  So downloading via svn client from github seems to be very painless.  Still think I want to move all of the development to github however.
18:30 mgage_ If you would like to upload the NationalProblemLibrary up to github I think we're ready for that.  Jason.grout has a version on github but I don't think he has done anything with it.
18:31 aubreyja Ok, I'll do that - next step is to get current NPL authors to use it...
18:31 mgage_ yes
18:33 mgage_ I'd like to bake in a link from the PGProblemEditor either straight to github or to the Issues feature on github or to bugzilla (but more automatic than what we have now) -- not quite sure how it would work -- but it would follow the outlines of the workflow grout and crisman outlined a while ago (as a wish list)
18:34 aubreyja I can switch my installation over whenever we think we're ready to try this - we should probably try to encourage other people who know what they are doing to switch over so we can work out problems with a small group before pushing everyone to it
18:35 mgage_ I think Gavin may already have downloaded directly from github.
18:35 aubreyja Yeah, should we look into importing our bugzilla db to github? I don't know if that's possible, but in some sense it's a good history to have
18:35 aubreyja ah, good to know - I'll go ahead and switch at spring break (week after next)
18:35 mgage_ I know that you need to do a configuration in lib/webworkSOAP/WSDL.pm in addition to reconfiguring conf files
18:36 aubreyja well, I'll do it and write instructions for the wiki as I do to start some docs for people to use
18:36 mgage_ I sent out semi-detailed instructions to the development list last week.  Those can be copied over to the release notes (2.5.1 release?) on the wiki once someone has used them and they have been proof read.
18:37 aubreyja we should also set a public target date for when we'll phase out svn completely (like, a couple of years)
18:37 aubreyja ok, I'll use those - still not caught up on email
18:38 mgage_ there is no release 2.5.1 page on the wiki yet as far as i can tell so you can create one
18:39 aubreyja sounds good - when do you want to release it?
18:39 mgage_ there is a way to push what we have in github to the svn repository -- but it might be a little complicated.
18:44 mgage_ I'd like to release it as a beta in april.  And then as a final version or as version 2.5.2 after the code camp in June.  I'll have more to say on this later tonight but I think we'll plan to code camps.  One in June here to concentrate on getting all of the homework/classlist editors and browsers solidly web2.0 (and perhaps even removing some editor options -- at least in the standard release -- pushing people toward the 2.0 versions).  The othe
18:44 mgage_ concentrate on model courses/ and embedding stuff (applets, html5, video, etc. etc.) and getting polished demos of WeBWorK ready to use.  That might be done here later in the summer, but it would be better if we can get somewhere else to host it.  We think we can do a code camp here for about $10K for 6 "away" people  plus 4 to 6 "local" people.  So that covers travel, meals and hotel expenses.
18:46 aubreyja that sounds good - also, I think we have a reasonable chance of doing another prep workshop next summer
