18:50 aubreyja mgage, mgage_: around?
18:51 mgage_ yep
18:52 aubreyja cloning the wiki -
18:52 mgage_ yes
18:52 aubreyja do you have a wiki set up on the usb?
18:52 mgage_ are there instructions somewhere?
18:53 aubreyja well, there are the standard mediawiki instructions, but I think we have a better solution
18:53 mgage_ no -- but that was the idea -- I have a little less than 1 Gig less on my 4Gig DMG and I was wondering if I could add a clone of the wiki to it
18:53 aubreyja the wikisync extension
18:53 mgage_ left on my
18:54 mgage_ ok -- that does sound good.  Do you have any idea how big the wiki is ?
18:54 aubreyja checking...
18:55 mgage_ it's not that important since 8Gig usb sticks are nearly as cheap as 4Gig ones but I like the idea of fitting it all on a 4gig stick.  I've also been looking for good deals on remaindered 4Gb usb sticks.  $5 is about the best I've seen and most are around $6.
18:55 aubreyja well "du /var/lib/mediawiki/" gives 1538568
18:55 aubreyja we have a lot of those videos from web conferences is the problem
18:56 mgage_ ok -- it's not that important but I would like to know about the wikisync extension
18:57 aubreyja http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:WikiSync
18:57 mgage_ also perhaps we can uplload/offload those videos to youtube.  Is there a problem with that? Does youtube have a maximum size?
18:57 aubreyja it has a maximum length, but we can cut the videos and have parts.  Also, looks like wikisync will let us disable downloading files
18:58 mgage_ did you look at the bluehost specs?  -- it looks like you could rent a site for $5 a month with video streaming etc. etc.  -- seems a good deal.
18:59 aubreyja yeah, that looks great
18:59 mgage_ ok that would be good.
18:59 mgage_ it looks like I have to build a wiki mirror first before the wiki extension is useful
18:59 aubreyja I might set up a minecraft server ;)
19:00 aubreyja right, but that's not hard - just copy /var/lib/mediawiki and /etc/mediawiki
19:01 mgage_ speaking of which the current version of the dmg for the mac is at http://webwork.maa.org/ww-downloads/WW_dev_small2.dmg.  It takes close to an hour to download.  I think we should figure out how to put it on bittorrent
19:01 mgage_ ok -- I'll set up a mirror on hosted2 this evening.
19:01 aubreyja good idea - it's probably not hard to do - actually, we can probably set up a torrent server on webwork.maa.org for iso's dmg's, etc.
19:02 mgage_ that's what I was thinking -- haven't started investigating how to do it yet.

21:51 mgage_ aubreyja: hi
21:51 aubreyja Hi
21:52 mgage_ if you've got time could you download that DMG that I put up on webwork.maa.org and try it out tomorrow?   I'm curious how it works on your machine -- it's getting pretty smooth, but you need to try it on lots of machines
21:52 mgage_ it takes about an hour to download
21:52 mgage_ url is http://webwork.maa.org/ww-downloads/WW_dev_small2.dmg
22:34 aubreyja downloading - I'll let you know once I get it going
