14:48 JohnTravis mgage:  Home?
14:51 mgage yep
14:51 mgage JohnTravis:yep
14:51 JohnTravis Hey.  Quick question.  On the dmg, what is the admin password?
14:51 JohnTravis Can't find the answer on the wiki or and haven't noticed it in the readme.
14:51 mgage it should be the password for your machine
14:52 JohnTravis I tried that once.  Will try again.  Maybe I typed it wrong.
14:52 JohnTravis Didn't work.
14:53 JohnTravis any suggestions?
14:54 mgage ok -- so you got hold of the dmg. then you clicked on WW_dev_small2.dmg and it opened up WW_test in the sidebar of your finder.  OK so far?
14:57 JohnTravis ...had a student drop in...
14:57 JohnTravis yes
14:57 JohnTravis changed the permissions
14:57 mgage ok now get info on WW_test (command I)
14:58 mgage is the "ignore ownership" checkbox in the lower left hand corner unchecked?
14:58 JohnTravis Already did that.  Found your html startup readme file!
14:59 mgage ok -- just checking -- what are the privileges on the get info window -- who is the owner and what privileges do they have?
14:59 JohnTravis john had R/W
14:59 JohnTravis staff has R/W
15:00 JohnTravis everyone has R only
15:00 mgage ok -- if necessary we can give everyone RW but let's not do that yet.
15:01 mgage ok now under opt/scripts/  there are two "startup" scripts -- the one with the icon that looks like a page can be edited so click that
15:02 mgage then click run
15:02 mgage an ok
15:02 JohnTravis I'm already running the startup script
15:02 JohnTravis and browsing the "other" courses.  Just can't get into admin.
15:03 mgage -- ok -- that admin
15:03 mgage use profa/profa
15:03 mgage I thought we were talking about admin privileges on your machine.
15:03 JohnTravis aha.  I had tried that once (before I changed the ownership box).  Worked!
15:03 JohnTravis You are loved.
15:03 mgage :-)
15:04 JohnTravis Apparently a quick question from me takes 12 minutes.
15:04 mgage beats email turnaround time
15:05 JohnTravis thsnks. tty in a few minutes

15:35 mgage aubreyja: web phone call?
15:35 JohnTravis aubreyja:  Conference Call?
15:36 aubreyja yep! on the way - I'm on the phone
16:37 mgage aubreyja:  have you set up a bitorrent file by any chance?  I'd like to do this with the .dmg
16:38 aubreyja nope, never done it…I googled it once and got the impression it isn't hard (teenagers do this to pirate stuff after all), but that's as far as it went :)

16:47 mgage I don't thinkthe bit torrent set up is hard.  I've downloaded a couple of apps for it -- it's just a matter of reading instructions :-) and doing a little bit of experimenting.
16:48 mgage The file I want to serve is the one at webwork.maa.org/ww-downloads/WW_dev_small2.dmg  -- although I'm working on an update to that.  -- It seems to have worked well enough for JT
16:57 mgage be there in a minute
19:43 aubreyja mgage: Joe will be happy to coordinate and communicate with HS users…do we have a set of survey questions he can send out?
19:45 mgage let's coordinate with Vicki and Flora on this -- my goal is just to get some contact with the folks and give them an opportunity to make open ended comments.
19:45 mgage can you send this question to Vicki and ask for a short answer?  I think she might be able to come up with something quickly
19:46 aubreyja ok, sure thing
