01:30 mgage hi
01:35 goehle joined #webwork
01:35 goehle hey mgage
01:35 mgage hi
01:35 goehle I think I know the bug you are talking about
01:35 goehle I think the problem is that there is a missing div on the homework page
01:36 mgage that could be -- can describe where it is? or can I send you a file?
01:37 goehle well check a homework page
01:37 goehle I have <div class="info-wrapper"><div id="InfoPanel"
01:37 goehle so there is a info-wrapper div
01:37 goehle around InfoPanel
01:37 goehle and that seemed to fix my problems
01:39 mgage I think I have that -- at least in the math2.css theme -- but the info box is still way off to the right
01:39 goehle hmm
01:39 goehle is this on hosted2?
01:39 mgage and it doesn't fill the info_wrapper div.
01:40 mgage not yet - - give me five minutes and I can put it there.
01:42 goehle yeah I think this might be what I was looking at
01:51 mgage ok -- it's up on hosted2 now -- you notice it most if there is a narrow window
01:52 goehle right
01:52 goehle yeah
01:52 goehle I did look at this
01:52 goehle ok so
01:52 goehle https://github.com/goehle/webwork2/blob/master/conf/templates/math3/math3.css
01:52 goehle my conf file is there
01:53 goehle I get rid of the max width stuff in info Panel
01:53 goehle line 435
01:53 goehle I also get rid of the absolute positoin stuff in info wrapper
01:53 goehle and add max width to info wrapper
01:53 goehle line 640 or so
01:54 mgage ok -- give me a few minutes with that
01:54 goehle one more hting
01:55 goehle you have to add a div class to the ProblemSet page
01:55 mgage doing this with math3.css or math2.css ? -- shouldn't make a lot of difference
01:55 goehle I was in math3
01:55 goehle but I think the issue is in both
01:55 mgage ok an info_wrapper type div
01:55 goehle https://github.com/openwebwork/webwork2-dev/blob/ww2.5.1.1/lib/WeBWorK/ContentGenerator/ProblemSet.pm
01:55 goehle add it in this file
01:55 goehle line
01:56 goehle 270
01:56 goehle you can see my version here
01:56 goehle https://github.com/goehle/webwork2/blob/master/lib/WeBWorK/ContentGenerator/ProblemSet.pm
01:56 goehle you hvae to close the div at line 286
01:56 mgage ok -- I'm about to make changes on hosted2 -- then I'll upload them tothe repo
01:57 goehle lets test on hosted 2
01:57 goehle just to make sure i'm right
01:57 goehle the issue isthat if you control with width in info panel
01:57 goehle then it makes the panel a percentage width of the wrapper (if there is one)
01:57 goehle and that makes it skinny
01:57 goehle but if you control with width with the wrapper
01:57 goehle then the panel is too big when there isnt a wrapper
01:58 mgage yeah -- I kind of figured something like that but I was getting tired. :-)
01:58 goehle :)
02:00 mgage ok -- got ProblemSet.pm
02:03 mgage ok -- let's see how it looks
02:04 goehle I see an extra div
02:04 goehle but I dont see the info-wrapper class
02:04 goehle which is why it sstill to big on the set page, I think
02:06 mgage I was missing some curly braces at line 270 -- but adding them didn't fix it
02:08 goehle hmm
02:08 goehle i'm still not seeing an info-wrapper class
02:08 goehle so its not making it through somehow
02:08 mgage info_wrapper instead of info-wrapper   hang on
02:10 goehle looks better to me
02:10 goehle did that fix what you were looking for?
02:11 mgage it isn't looking better yet for me -- I can see the divs those -- I think I'm getting .css caching effects
02:13 goehle hitting refresh worked for me
02:14 goehle I"m looking at maa101
02:14 goehle btw
02:14 mgage I'm definitely seeing the old .css file
02:14 mgage I'm looking at gage_demo
02:14 mgage I'll try one of the maa courses
02:14 goehle gage_demo have a guest account?
02:15 goehle it does
02:15 goehle both info boxes look fine to me in gage demo
02:15 goehle on the other hand you may be seeing something i'm not
02:15 goehle but I thought it was just that if you made the problem list box the right width the set list box was too skinny
02:16 goehle and vice versa
02:16 goehle (sortof)
02:16 mgage when I look with chrome's web inspector I'm seeing old css info --
02:16 goehle refresh doesnt help?
02:16 goehle hmm
02:17 mgage it has now -- but it didn't the first three times I dried it -- those who say doing the same thing over and expecting different results don't work with computers. :-)
02:17 goehle lol
02:18 goehle It probably is rolling a d6 every time you hit refresh and only really refreshing if you get a 5
02:18 mgage soulnds like the google guys sense of humor (or mine for that matter)
02:19 mgage ok -- I think this is ok -- I'll transfer this to math2.css and then push it up to openwebwork/webwork2-dev
02:19 goehle nice
02:19 goehle my only comment is that with this setup it can look wierd if your window isnt full screen
02:20 mgage not as weird as it was -- it used to be that the middle box popped down
02:20 mgage this better.
02:20 goehle fair enough
02:21 goehle I'm not sure there is a good solution when you have 3 elements taking up horizontal real estate and the real estate shrinks
02:21 goehle one of them has to go somewhere I guess
02:21 mgage but I'd be glad to see it made better still -- the central box isn't being handled right I think
02:21 goehle and its better for the set list to stay on top
02:21 goehle yeah
02:21 goehle it should probably stack the info box to the left of the central box
02:21 goehle or right rather
02:21 goehle no wait
02:21 mgage The central and right boxes should shrink, but perhaps at different rates -- don't know if that is possible
02:21 goehle float left
02:22 goehle if you did it right the info box would sit to the left when there is enough room
02:22 goehle but when it was narrow it would drop down and sit under the set list
02:22 goehle although that would still be wierld
02:22 goehle a problem for another day I guess
02:22 goehle that might be possible
02:22 goehle I dont know, though
02:22 mgage I really think that these should be redesigned from scratch using higher level tools -- I think there is a box model for css
02:23 mgage but I'm not going to do that for this release.
02:23 goehle yeah, thats going to require a lot of mucking about in the code
02:23 mgage I do think that we are at the point where we can start getting creative with templates and css
02:23 mgage eventually we'll probably have the templates in javaScript
02:24 mgage then it will be cleaner
02:24 goehle true.

02:24 aubreyja joined #webwork
02:24 goehle and that has a pleasing setup
02:24 aubreyja howdy
02:24 goehle the perl handles the background
02:24 goehle hey
02:24 goehle the javascript builds the page
02:24 mgage hi -- we're getting there you can look at stuff on hosted2
02:24 goehle and the css controls how it looks
02:25 aubreyja yep
02:25 goehle hopefully we got that .css problem worked out
02:25 mgage yep -- we've got that on the library browser and the classlist
02:25 mgage some of thee other modules are next
02:26 goehle ok, I got to get to bed
02:26 goehle talk to you guy slater
02:30 aubreyja wow, new statistics looks interesting (unfortunately I have no actual data in my course :)
02:31 Paul_Pearson Does stats work?
02:31 aubreyja So, Hmwk Sets Editor 2 pencil edit
02:31 aubreyja yep, it comes up, but I have no students in my course to display stats for on hosted2
02:31 mgage I think so -- I have both new and old stats there
02:32 aubreyja Hmwk sets editor 2 automatically selects visible and Enable Reduce Credit, and doesn't pre fill dates
02:33 mgage yes -- the tabs are a nice touch -- and there is a drop down datePicker in some places -- but Grant never quite finished this
02:33 mgage try the dates
02:34 aubreyja Actually, I'm running this on my server now - the dates are nice. They do seem to select standard time though always at first...
02:35 mgage and they don't remember what the previous setting was either I think.   not big things but need to be done
02:35 aubreyja My initial feeling is that when we distribute the release, the new content modules should probably be disabled - the list I'm looking at now under 'Instructor Tools' would scare most instructors I think
02:36 aubreyja Well, what I mean is that we should distribute one active content module per function (e.g. the new stats module is probably a go, but not hmwk sets editor 2)
02:38 mgage that's what the switches in localOverrides are for -- although a switch for Stats has to be added.
02:38 mgage but I agree --
02:45 mgage ok -- everything is pushed to openwebwork/webwork2 branch ww2.5.1.1  could you record those things you noticed about homeworkeditor2 in the issues so we don't forget them  -- I'm going ot go get a glass of wine.  I've been at this all day
02:45 mgage :-)
02:45 aubreyja sure thing - good work - talk to you tomorrow

19:09 djun mike: ping?
19:17 Paul_Pearson @ alex_b: How is DragMath enabled and disabled?
19:18 alex_b there must be a parameter in the config files with 'dragmath' in the name
19:18 alex_b setting that to 1 enables dragmath, setting that to 0 disables dragmath
19:18 Paul_Pearson OK, I'll look for it there.  Thanks!
19:19 alex_b in must be in defaults.config
19:20 alex_b $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars}{DragMath} = 0;
19:20 alex_b is the line you're looking for
19:23 Paul_Pearson I was able to set it in course.conf via $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars}{DragMath} = 0;  Since I'm on the test server, I don't know that I have access to defaults.config, which is OK.
19:24 Paul_Pearson Thanks, Alex.
