00:27 aubreyja how's it going?
00:29 mgage_ yep -- for me -- well it's going but I think we have a bunch to catch up on -- and also to prepare for the fitchburg code camp.  Do you have some time for face time?
00:30 aubreyja Same here - sure - just a minute I'll get my ipad

02:48 mgage_ eee-bit: hi -- could you repeat your question again?  It scrolled off my screen.  Sorry about the delay it's been busy today
02:53 mgage_ eee-blt: If you are using MathObjects in your problems you can format the number of decimal places using Context() -- see http://webwork.maa.org/wiki/Modifying_Contexts_(advanced)
03:00 mgage_ f you are not it is messier but still possible  see http://webwork.maa.org/pod/pg_TRUNK/macros/PGbasicmacros.pl.html#formatting_macros and references to low level macros -- or to FEQ (formatting equations) -- but these are very old techniques and don't work nearly as well as MathObjects.
03:00 mgage_ glad you like webwork

17:39 mgage_ hi
17:59 aubreyja hi
18:00 mgage_ hi -- I'm working on the includePGtext macro -- I had fixed it sometime in June but then  it got overwritten -- I'm trying to track all the changes down to make sure I don't miss something this time.
18:01 mgage_ I'm learning a lot about git log  but I still don't know enough :-)
18:01 aubreyja :)

19:29 djun Hi all - sorry, i was AFK
19:30 djun Mike - I put in a pull request yesterday fixing the issue with BEGIN_SOLUTION in includePGtext().
19:38 mgage_ yes -- I saw that --- but it had actually been fixed before on July 15 (with a slightly more general method so that if default_preprocess_code() is updated in Translator then the relevant code in includePGtext is included as well.
19:39 mgage_ the fix was undone around Aug 6.  in the rush to get things together at the end of the last code camp
19:40 mgage_ I'm just checking to make sure I didn't miss anything else.  i found one reference to includePGtext() in PG.pl which should be $PG->includePGtext()  --
19:40 mgage_ I've been trying to recover what I can of the harddrive that crashed this summer -- it has test cases for these things  -- if I can't dig it out I'll rewrite them.
19:46 djun I recall chatting with you about this :)  and I thought you'd fixed this.  I was wondering what happened.
19:48 mgage_ I'll send you the print out from git log when I get this finally straightened out.  If you know what you are doing (which I still don't very well  ) you can reconstruct a lot of the construction of each file over time.
19:48 djun I've been plagued with drive failures for the past year too.  Three drives, all Seagate, all the same vintage.  I now I have SSD drives in two of my machines - replacing the third soon.  They're much peppier feeling now.  Hope that they're more reliable also.
19:49 djun The includePGText issue is somewhat critical because the error messages generated by some of our questions are scaring instructors.
19:49 mgage_ Yeah -- I put an ssd in my white mac book -- and figured out how to repair the corrupted backup of the machine on my time capsule -- apparently it was backing up when it crashed
19:50 mgage_ kk -- I'll have a version ready pretty soon -- actually I'll push it up to my github right now.  It's changes to PG.pl IO.pm and Translator.pm -- they are just not tested yet so perhaps you can help out.
19:51 mgage_ ok -- it's up at mgage/pg-dev  branch pg2.5.1
19:53 mgage_ I'm particularly puzzled by the change in PG.pl -- it shouldn't have worked at all since I can't find where includePGtext() is ever defined by a function.  It was perhaps two years ago, but not since the advent of PGcore().
19:53 djun I think the guys at CTLT are pulling from openwebwork/pg-dev, IIRC.  ionparticle?
19:54 mgage_ I'll move it over there soon -- and then to openwebwork/pg  but I want to test it first.
19:54 djun sounds like a plan :)
19:56 djun I have to go for about an hour. Back soon

22:17 mgage_ djun: I have the changes pushed to mgage/pg-dev
22:17 mgage_ I'll push your changes for unionTables.pl in a few minutes
22:29 djun Great, thanks. Are you finding all of the bits and pieces?  I get into this state too, with too many versions checked out and too much time elapsing between visits to the work
22:48 mgage_ I think I have found them.  Could you have your guys run some tests.  I ran a couple of explicit tests with redirects to problems with solutions -- and so far so good.  But I don't have a large collection questions for which this issue was occuring.
23:18 djun Mike: will do, later tonight.  Thanks for spending the time on this!
