23:07 mgage segway: hi
23:12 Paul_Pearson Hi Mike.
23:13 mgage hi paul
23:13 Paul_Pearson I think I'm listed as segway for some inexplicable reason.
23:13 mgage ok -- I was wondering who that was
23:13 mgage you are listed as Paul_Pearson at the moment
23:14 mgage try Quoclinh Nguyen at Merced  -- that's the last guy I had contact with  -- I don't know if he is still there
23:14 Paul_Pearson Oh, ok.  I probably just misinterpreted the info provided to me.
23:14 Paul_Pearson I submitted a little macro this weekend.
23:15 Paul_Pearson OPL/macros/FortLewis/ConditionalHint.pl
23:15 Paul_Pearson It allows pg files to display hints after a particular answer is correct.
23:15 mgage so I was answering this question:  Did you hear back from member:mgage yesterday about who to contact at Merced regarding MercedCAS?  -- was that you?
23:16 Paul_Pearson That was not me.  I don't know what Merced CAS is...
23:16 mgage k -- I'll look at that later tonight -- you submitted it to openwebwork/pg-dev
23:16 Paul_Pearson I submitted it via svn to the OPL.
23:17 mgage segway wanted to use CAS for authentication -- apparently they use it at UC Merced
23:19 mgage I see your ConditionalHint -- it's been passed on to openwebwork's github.
23:19 Paul_Pearson Anyway, after a student answered one part correctly I wanted an integral formula to "pop up" so that they could do the next part.  So, I created ConditionalHint.pl to make that easy to do.
23:20 mgage sounds useful  -- I'll send you some multipart code I sent John Travis over the weekend -- based on your code actually
23:20 Paul_Pearson Thanks.
23:20 mgage there is more tweaking that can be done to combine it with Davide's stuff
23:20 Paul_Pearson OK.
23:21 Paul_Pearson Did you figure out how to control the scores for multipart questions?
23:21 Paul_Pearson Let me explain...
23:21 mgage not yet -- that's a little harder -- but I've got ideas
23:21 mgage sent
23:22 Paul_Pearson For a typical three-part question I wrote, the score would often increment 0, 0.5, 0.6666, 1 after zero, one, two, and three correct answers.
23:23 mgage you still get blank problems listed as incorrect in a new part (after the first one) -- that's because we've used a hack to suppress blanks being displayed as wrong answers in ordinary problems
23:24 mgage my version grades just like any ordinary problem but the the hidden problems are marked incorrect even though you can't even try them yet.
23:24 mgage it gives away info about how long the multipart problem is -- but I'm not sure that's bad -- students who aren't freakedout by having hidden answers marked wrong will have no problem.
23:26 Paul_Pearson I'll look at it later. :)
23:27 mgage kk -- I don't have the latest version up on hosted2 yet or I would point you at it.  -- I'm off to eat
23:27 mgage ttyl
