01:51 mgage hi Paul_Pearson
01:51 Paul_Pearson h
01:51 Paul_Pearson i
01:51 mgage what's up?
01:52 Paul_Pearson https://testcourses.webwork.maa.org/webwork2/PREP13_Problem_Authoring/Applet_experiment
01:52 Paul_Pearson Mostly fumbling in the dark...
01:53 mgage problem 1?
01:53 Paul_Pearson Yes.
01:56 Paul_Pearson The geogebraweb applet is inside an html article tag.
01:56 Paul_Pearson I was playing around with <article onsubmit="getAppletValues()" ...
01:56 Paul_Pearson It was not working.  (It was a shot in the dark.)
01:59 mgage is yours the first problem?
01:59 Paul_Pearson I have been looking at the AppletObjects.pl and Applet.pm and ww_applet_support.js to try to figure out the API approach you mentioned earlier.
01:59 Paul_Pearson Yes, the first problem.
01:59 Paul_Pearson Being unable to get through the layers and complexity of the API approach, I have tried more direct approaches.
01:59 mgage kk -- it will take a few minutes for me to look at this
02:01 mgage it didn't work for me in chrome but it does work for me in firefox
02:04 mgage in chrome it doesn't even show up yet.   in firefox it does.
02:04 Paul_Pearson hmm...that's not good.  I wish I had known it was not working on chrome (on mac?)
02:04 mgage yes
02:05 Paul_Pearson It works for me in chrome and firefox but not IE (on windows 7).
02:05 Paul_Pearson Is it worth pursuing further?
02:06 mgage this is the error -- The page at https://testcourses.webwork.maa.org/webwork2/PREP13_Problem_Authoring/Apple…&key=R2WZ9qvNKsaOGKM65SFIgghQC99t62ZP&displayMode=MathJax&showOldAnswers=1 ran insecure content from http://www.geogebra.org/web/4.2/web/web.nocache.js.

02:08 Paul_Pearson Maybe it is a cross-server issue?
02:09 Paul_Pearson The GeoGebraWeb script (named web.nocache.js) is being loaded from geogebra.org.
02:09 mgage so if you call geogebra using https://www.geogebra.org  … I think it will work
02:10 Paul_Pearson OK, I changed to https.
02:10 mgage I"m going to be off line for a while
02:11 Paul_Pearson OK.
02:11 Paul_Pearson Have fun :)
02:11 mgage your change makes it work in chrome now!! I'll look at the details later -- looks like nice work
02:11 Paul_Pearson I do not know how to submit the "circle" to webwork, though.

15:23 goehle hey mgage
15:41 mgage hi
15:43 goehle hey
15:43 goehle just wanted to see how things worked out with 2.7
15:43 goehle is it officially in master?
15:45 mgage yes -- just pull master
15:45 goehle nice
15:45 goehle what did you guys decide to do about problem formatting?
15:46 mgage you'll get it.  I still have release/2.7 up but I won't add anything further to it -- and I'll take it down as soon as I'm sure it's not needed.
15:46 mgage which problem formatting?
15:46 goehle davide's issue with the problems having different formatting in different themes
15:47 mgage there are by the way still a few issues -- mostly with installing -- that probably deserve hot fixes
15:49 goehle anything super urgent, or that I would be  particularly helpful for?
15:53 mgage I've not dealt with that at the moment.  For one thing I'm not sure that he is right that bootstrap is putting labels on bare html -- I think it might have been some of our old css stuff.  I want to look closely at our develop version which has ion particle's improvements before I do too much more.
15:54 mgage Paul Pearson has been working on the geogebraweb applet -- there are some comments in the devel list. I'll send you  a few more emails if you want to poke at it.
15:54 mgage we need to find an example of a geogebraweb applet that is working in an HTML page that communicates via javaScript.
15:56 goehle hmm, I've never worked with geogebra before
15:57 goehle as for the formatting
15:57 goehle it would be easy enough to check
15:58 goehle looks like bootstrap.css is matching a rule for math3
15:59 goehle for p
15:59 goehle that changes the margin
16:01 goehle which is strange because it shouldn't have the base css components included
16:08 goehle looks like the definitely snuck in there though
16:15 mgage is it still in the develop version also? or did ion particle take it out?
16:16 goehle looks like its in develop as well

16:37 mgage kk -- go ahead and experiment with it if you wish
16:37 mgage I'll be in talks for a while -- so sporadic responses :-)

17:37 hotdogs so in one course, a hardcopy shows the source pg file per problem.  In another course, it doesn't.  Is this is a checkbox somewhere?
17:48 hotdogs oh, looks like it's a permissions thing
18:14 Paul_Pearson joined #webwork
18:14 hotdogs oh, it's the PRINT_FILE_NAMES_FOR option.  Which contains 'professor' but apparently wants usernames :(
18:20 mgage joined #webwork
18:36 goehle hey hotdogs
18:38 goehle I think that may be the
18:39 goehle "print_path_to_problem" permission set in defaults.config
18:39 ionparticle joined #webwork
18:39 goehle generally you dont want students seeing the actual problem name because it would make it easier for them to find if they had their own copy of the opl
18:41 hotdogs oh, definitely
18:41 hotdogs but by default it doesn't show it for professors for some reason
18:43 hotdogs where is defaults.config? I don't seem to have one.  Do you mean global.conf?
19:00 goehle ah.
19:01 goehle hmm, those config files have changed in recent versions
19:01 goehle it might have been in global.conf
19:01 goehle grepping for print_path_to_problem should show it
19:01 mgage joined #webwork
19:06 hotdogs oh, I found it
19:06 hotdogs it's just not working :)
19:07 goehle so the pg path isn't shown on the hard copy?
19:08 hotdogs nope
19:08 hotdogs print_path_to_problem is set to "professor" in global.conf
19:09 goehle it can be overridden in localOverrides.conf and in the course.conf file
19:10 goehle although that would be a bit suprising
19:10 hotdogs $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars}{PRINT_FILE_NAMES_FOR} is usually set to [ "professor" ]
19:10 hotdogs but in the course.conf, we set it to [ "myusername", "anotherusername" ... ]
19:10 hotdogs a list of the admins
19:10 hotdogs (I'm not the person who set up webwork)
19:11 hotdogs so in course.conf there's a workaround, but that doesn't get copied when the course is cloned, soo
19:12 hotdogs I would like to fix it globally.  I'll fiddle with debug output on Monday.  I'm supposed to have today off, so I think adding the override for it is enough for now :)
19:12 goehle I just tested it on my server and it seems to work as intended.  It shows the path for professors and not for students.
19:14 goehle you can set that $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars} globally in your global.conf
19:15 goehle looks like there is also
19:15 goehle $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars}{PRINT_FILE_NAMES_PERMISSION_LEVEL} =
19:15 goehle $userRoles{ $permissionLevels{print_path_to_problem} };
19:15 goehle in the config files.
19:15 goehle so thats how the permission level is actually being used
19:17 hotdogs yeah, this is in my global.conf: $pg{specialPGEnvironmentVars}{PRINT_FILE_NAMES_PERMISSION_LEVEL} = $userRoles{ $permissionLevels{print_path_to_problem} };
19:17 hotdogs unless global.conf isn't actually used...
19:17 goehle it isn't in newer versions
19:18 goehle https://github.com/goehle/webwork2/blob/master/conf/global.conf.dist
19:18 goehle I don't remember what version the change actually took place though
19:19 hotdogs is 2.4.9 a newer version?
19:20 hotdogs and what config ends up being used instead?
19:20 goehle the current release is at 2.7
19:20 goehle now there is a defaults.confg
19:21 goehle which has all of the default settings
19:21 goehle and global overrides should be put in
19:21 goehle localOverrides.config
19:21 goehle still, if you dont have those files
19:21 hotdogs where do you get 2.7?
19:21 goehle then you are probably still using the older version
19:21 goehle github
19:21 hotdogs oh.  The website only lists 2.5.0 as the latest
19:22 goehle http://webwork.maa.org/wiki/Github#.UcSnxfFhI2o
19:22 goehle which website, out of curiosity
19:22 hotdogs http://webwork.maa.org/wiki/Download
19:22 goehle ok, looks like that page was depreciated
19:22 hotdogs well, it's what you go to from http://webwork.maa.org/getwebwork.html
19:23 goehle that should be changed
19:23 hotdogs :)
