16:27 goehle hey aubreyja
16:27 goehle What is supposed to go in the
16:27 aubreyja hey goehle, howzit going
16:27 goehle status required for release
16:27 goehle field
16:27 goehle not too bad
16:28 goehle doing some testing of 2.8
16:28 aubreyja cool - I was going to take a look today to - my classes ended yesterday, so I'm feeling particularly..uh..free
16:29 aubreyja any changes you know of that might affect my install script?
16:29 goehle not off the top of my head
16:29 goehle but I am going to use your install script
16:29 goehle on a fresh machine in the next week or so
16:29 aubreyja I have an idea to fork it over to openwebwork and have releases of it that track webwork releases
16:29 goehle I'll let you know if it breaks
16:30 aubreyja cool - that would be great
16:30 aubreyja what os? we need to address apache 2.4.4 very soon
16:30 goehle debian
16:31 aubreyja I'm sure the next ubuntu lts will use it, so we'll start getting more complaints if ww doesn't work with the default apache
16:31 goehle does ww not work with 2.4.4 ?
16:32 aubreyja no, some changes in mod perl we need to address - they appear relatively small - lemme find you some links..
16:33 aubreyja http://webwork.maa.org/moodle/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=3181
16:33 aubreyja http://webwork.maa.org/moodle/mod/forum/discuss.php?d=3155
16:33 goehle 12:00am EST if you score at least %.2% on set NewSet2
16:34 goehle do you know whats causing that in conditional release?
16:34 aubreyja what's the error? the %.2%?
16:35 aubreyja you going to the jmm by the way?
16:35 goehle I am
16:35 goehle yes
16:35 goehle I dont know why its formatted like that
16:36 aubreyja Ah, did you specify the condition as a % or a decimal?
16:38 goehle I'm not sure what its supposed to be
16:38 goehle is it a scor4e
16:38 goehle or a percentage?
16:38 aubreyja yeah, that needs some help text - it should be a decimal between 0 and 1
16:39 goehle Invalid conversion in sprintf: "%.2" at /opt/webwork/webwork2/lib/WeBWorK/ContentGenerator/ProblemSets.pm line 491.
16:40 goehle so thats the error I"m getting
16:41 aubreyja $set->restricted_status is def a decimal...
16:42 aubreyja what did you enter?
16:44 aubreyja and, can you see what the value is in the db?
16:44 goehle looking in the db is a pain :/
16:44 goehle however its coming up as 0.5
16:44 goehle in the editor
16:45 aubreyja btw, I got my son a raspberry pi for his bd, and he dosn't know it yet, but we're going to install webwork on it...:)
16:45 aubreyja I'll bet my install script will work on it :)
16:46 goehle :P
16:48 aubreyja ah, should be sprintf("%.2f", $restriction) I guess - I wonder why I never saw that error...
16:49 goehle thats what it is in the code
16:49 aubreyja strange...
16:50 aubreyja So, you entered just '0.5' right?
16:51 aubreyja actually, weren't you the one who tested this before accepting the pull request? I could have sworn it worked...
16:51 goehle I was
16:51 goehle and it did
16:52 goehle bah
16:53 goehle hmm
16:53 goehle so apparently that chunk of code is replicated a bunch throughout the page
16:53 goehle and one of them doesn't have the f
16:53 goehle near where it says something about
16:53 goehle #old conditional
16:53 goehle whatever that means
16:53 aubreyja ah, right I had to do it slightly differently for gatways - It should only be replicated twice
16:55 goehle well its there for gateways
16:55 goehle and then in two slightly different versions
16:55 goehle for sets that are opened
16:55 goehle or sets that will open
16:55 goehle in any case that should fix it
16:56 goehle do you want me to change the wording on the ProblemSetDetail page
16:56 goehle while I'm mucking around in here
16:56 aubreyja hold on - I need to read through it to remember what I was doing - the "#old conditional" makes me worry it might be extraneous...yeah- please do
16:56 goehle what should I chang eit to?
16:57 goehle it wasn't extraneous
16:57 goehle since thats the conditional that was being used
16:57 goehle (hence the formatting error)
16:57 aubreyja yeah :) - the "Restricted Status" is what you are going to change?
16:58 goehle yeah
16:58 goehle status is too vague
16:59 aubreyja maybe just a tool tip that instructs the user to enter a status value between 0 and 1?
16:59 goehle why not restricted score
16:59 goehle and then have a drop down that gives the numbers 0 to 100
17:00 aubreyja a drop down would work - I didn't use score because you can actually enter a comma separated list of sets to use that
17:01 goehle right
17:01 goehle but as far as I can tell you can only have one minimum status
17:02 aubreyja student - back in a bit
17:02 aubreyja right - one status for all sets - we could change that...
17:02 goehle kk
17:02 goehle could change what?
17:10 goehle so
17:10 goehle students can still access sets that they dont qualify for if they "hack" the url
17:58 aubreyja_ joined #webwork
17:58 aubreyja_ yo goof (geohle) - still around?
18:37 goehle yeah
18:37 goehle aubreyja
19:13 goehle hey mgage
19:14 goehle any idea why the restrict to ip stuff
19:14 goehle thinks my ip address is 10.0.2.2
19:47 aubreyja goehle ping
19:48 goehle hey
19:48 goehle figured out my ipaddress thing
19:48 goehle its virtualbox wierdness
19:48 goehle I changed how your conditional release stuff works
19:48 aubreyja ok - how so?
19:48 goehle now instead of a blank field there is a dropdown
19:48 aubreyja I saw the bug report too - good catch
19:48 aubreyja that sounds good
19:48 goehle but having all the numbers from 0 to 100 was to long
19:49 goehle so I only did 0% 10% ... 90% 100%
19:49 aubreyja by tens should be good enough
19:49 aubreyja right
19:49 goehle yeah
19:49 goehle I changed that for this release candidate
19:49 goehle since I think it really makes the feature easier to use
19:49 aubreyja yeah, it's  a good change -
19:49 aubreyja thanks
19:49 goehle the url workaround bug is something thats going to be more involved, since you will need to add code to a couple of different pages to check the conditional release stuff
19:50 aubreyja right - needs to be added like a permission check it seems like
19:50 goehle exactly
19:51 aubreyja I can do that but probably not for this release - when is it coming out?
19:54 goehle mike wants it out soon
19:55 goehle its not that big a deal.  The worst thing that could happen is that students can sneakily do their homework early
19:55 aubreyja yeah
19:56 aubreyja_ joined #webwork
19:57 goehle so I would just put it on your plate for the next release
19:57 goehle and focus on polishing this one
