03:47 niall I am currently trying to create another problem set in webwork and I am stuck in a catch 22 with the timezones
03:47 niall By default, the system is creating times with the IST timezone
03:48 niall But the system will not recognises this timezone and give an "IST not recognised" error when I attempt to add a question to the problem set
03:48 niall I cannot enter a timezone manually
03:48 niall If I try to use the default opoup time entry form, the timezone is set to EDT by default
03:49 niall Sometimes whenentering times using this form, on submission, these are converted to GMT (the tz I want)
03:49 niall However, at other times they are converted to IST
03:49 niall The system keeps converting the times I want to IST
03:49 niall Hence I cannot create the new set
03:52 niall Why does the system even use the IST timezone if it is not accepted?
03:58 niall Where are the file so I can edit them manuall. This input interface is unreliable and frustrating
04:00 niall The date I am trying to set is 03/31/2014 at 03:00am
04:01 niall The input boxes keep changing this to IST which of course makes it impossible to add problems as the IST timezone is not recignised
04:08 niall It makes the timezone GMT if I input the date as 03/29/2014 01:00pm
04:09 niall You have no idea how enraging this is
04:11 niall It's the DST change!!!
04:12 niall The System won't accept dates beyond the DST Change on the 30th of March!!!!
04:12 niall I can't set any more problem sets!!!
04:13 niall This is why you make all times UTC internally and NEVER ANYTHING ELSE. EVER!!!
04:13 niall EVER!!!
04:13 niall Put "All times internally in UTC" on the bug tracker please as this is a huge bug
04:25 niall I am so glad I didn't propose this system to the entire department right now
04:28 niall Is it even worth my while going into the database manually at this point?
04:28 niall Are the students going to encounter issues with this come the DST deadline?
04:31 niall I envy people who never had to work with computers
04:46 niall I guess I'm just goign to have to cancel webwork problem sets for the next two weeks/ permentantly
