17:24 shdw_work so I've been advised of an issue with one of the Calc-3 homework problems.  It has two input fields, and the accepted answer has the fields reversed.
17:24 shdw_work also when an answer is entered, we are seeing "an error occurred while checking your answer at [PG]/lib/Value/AnswerChecker.pm"
17:25 shdw_work I guess the first thing I need to know is how I identify which library problem this question is using?
17:32 goehle Look at the ProblemSetDetail page for the set in question and look for the problem
17:32 goehle or look at the problem as an instructor, the path to the problem will be on the top
17:36 shdw_work well it says webwork/math2400-fall-2013/homework44_20.5/2 but that doesn't seem to match my folders under webwork/courses
17:38 shdw_work ah here we go... Library/Michigan/Chap20Sec5/Q04.pg, 1, 5
17:51 goehle Not a pg file at /opt/webwork/webwork2/lib/WeBWorK/Utils/Tags.pm line 193.
17:51 goehle is that the error you are getting?
18:04 goehle I'm seeing the error
18:04 goehle that is super strange because the answers are reversed from what they show up as on the correct answer disply
18:04 goehle display
18:04 goehle so its a bug of some kind
18:04 goehle I'll submit a report
18:21 mgage joined #webwork
18:22 shdw_work sorry, back again
18:22 shdw_work but yeah, the answers are reversed, and it keeps crashing when you submit an answer
18:22 mgage hi
18:23 shdw_work what bugs me most is that I've been in charge of webwork here for over a year, and this is the first time anyone has even mentioned it to me
18:23 shdw_work heya mgage
18:23 mgage missed the beginning — what is the problem?
18:24 shdw_work one of the homework problems is causing errors, and the accepted answers are reversed from the correct answer
18:24 shdw_work goehle said he'll submit a bug report for it though
18:24 mgage that happens — there are a lot of people writing problems so it’s caveat emptor
18:24 mgage you can also — do you know how to do that?
18:25 goehle its actually a little wierder
18:25 shdw_work oh sure, I understand that... I just have to wonder why nobody here ever told me of the problem before now
18:25 goehle the answers are reversed from what they are reported via correct answer
18:26 mgage hmm — is it a Multianswer answer checker?  or are the answer checkers completely separate?
18:26 goehle its a multi answer checker
18:26 goehle or rather its a vector field checker
18:26 mgage hmm — so it could be a macro bug
18:26 goehle that was my thought
18:26 goehle Library/Michigan/Chap20Sec5/Q04.pg
18:27 goehle Oh wait
18:27 goehle its a MultiAnswer
18:27 goehle ah ok
18:27 goehle so its probably the checker for the multi answer, which looks like its custom
18:28 mgage seems likely  Ã¢â‚¬â€ shdw_worrk:   you know how to report these bugs from the PGproblemeditor page?  It’s fairly painless and it transmitts all the information about the path and the seed automatically.
18:29 mgage it’s a good thing to teach your instructors also — the more eyes watching bugs the better.
18:29 shdw_work uhhh... no, not at all
18:29 shdw_work got time to walk me through it?
18:30 mgage So if you are looking at a problem (and you have instructor privileges) then you see an “edit this problem link at the bottom.  It takes about 1 minute to walk you through it
18:30 mgage click on the link and it brings up an editor page for the problem
18:30 shdw_work hang on, I'm not finding the link
18:31 mgage bottom of the problem page — are you seeing a long list of options on the left margin? if not you don’t have instructor status
18:31 shdw_work hmm I'm logged in under an instructor account, but not seeing it
18:32 mgage do you see preview answers and check answers  and above that “show correct answers”
18:32 shdw_work yes
18:32 mgage and above that there is an “edit1” link
18:32 shdw_work ah I see Edit2 and Edit3
18:32 mgage and above that is the problem — right — so you get your choice of editors — use edit3 — it’s the most modern
18:33 shdw_work ok
18:33 mgage see “report bugs in this problem above the text of the problem itself
18:33 shdw_work yep
18:33 mgage (it’s a turquoise button —
18:34 mgage click that to go to bugzilla   — the first time it will ask for your email address so we’ll have somewhere to send reports when we fix the bug
18:34 shdw_work ok, component is Library?
18:34 shdw_work yep I've submitted a bug before
18:34 mgage yes
18:34 mgage (usually — somepeople might be editing a specialized library but they are mostly deprecated now
18:34 shdw_work anyone to CC the problem to?
18:35 mgage no — unless you want to alert someone special — John Jones at ASU takes care of dispatching the bugs.    If you look at the url you’ll see that it contains the path to the problem and the seed.
18:35 mgage A bit of a hack but it works.
18:36 mgage someone, someday will make a slicker connection to bugzilla
18:36 mgage if you were reporting a bug on a custom problem then you can put the code in the “description” category — but most bug reports are about library versions
18:37 mgage except for having to enter your email address (only the first time) it is pretty quick and easy to report bugs.
18:37 mgage for questions
18:37 mgage other bugs have a more choices to specify
18:38 mgage need to go for a few minutes.   First of my final exams in a few hours and I have to make sure everything is ready
18:40 shdw_work all right, bug submitted, I think I put in the important pieces.
18:41 mgage ty
18:41 shdw_work they wouldn't like it if I tried to give finals... I'm not much of a math person :-)
18:47 shdw_work goehle, oops so you had already entered a bug report too?
18:47 shdw_work I claim insanity as my excuse
18:47 goehle yeah, but I marked it dup
18:47 goehle so no worries
