18:23 goehle Hey aubreyja
18:23 aubreyja sup
18:23 goehle your attachment was scrubbed from the devel list
18:23 aubreyja aww...just a sec
18:23 goehle peters ww3 branch is likely to be a lot more unstable than the openwebwork one
18:23 goehle what are your errors/
18:24 aubreyja pasting them
18:26 aubreyja http://pastebin.com/bdUuTaR6
18:26 aubreyja sorry thta took so long pastebin.ca wouldn't take it
18:26 goehle have you done fetch recently
18:27 goehle those errors look old.  We dealt with the before/after redefine at Asheville
18:27 aubreyja yeah, just now got the code
18:27 aubreyja actually ,yesterday I fetched. Today I set it up
18:27 goehle it looks like your setup is wrong somehow
18:28 goehle is everything defined correctly in webwork3.conf
18:28 goehle and is there a link in webwork3/environments to webwork3.conf?
18:29 aubreyja ah, maybe not. Should that be a symlink straight to the file?
18:29 aubreyja no, it's there as development.yml
18:29 aubreyja that is, yes, it's there as development.yml
18:29 goehle right
18:30 goehle does it have the stuff in it that it needs to have
18:30 goehle library locations and webwork2 locations and whatnot?
18:30 aubreyja webwork_dir, pg_dir, logger, log, warnings, show_errors, session, session_dir
18:31 goehle that looks ok
18:31 aubreyja template, engings, autoreload, plugins,
18:31 goehle what url are you trying to access?
18:31 aubreyja webwork.math.arizona.edu/webwork2
18:31 goehle and that fails?
18:31 goehle that shouldn't/doesn't trigger any dancer stuff
18:32 aubreyja yeah, hit it
18:32 aubreyja can't read defaults.config due to APR::Table
18:32 aubreyja don't see any dancer stuff - where would that be?
18:32 goehle there isnt
18:32 goehle thats a webwork2 error
18:32 goehle I seem to remember seeing it before
18:33 goehle how are your permissions?
18:33 goehle is defaults.conf even there?
18:33 aubreyja well, should be ok - were fine on master...
18:33 aubreyja yeah, defaults.config
18:33 goehle did you copy over a new apache2 config file?
18:34 goehle and did you set the base dir in there as well?
18:34 aubreyja I followed the instructions https://github.com/openwebwork/webwork2/wiki/Upgrade-to-WeBWorK3
18:35 aubreyja webwork3/bin/app.pl seems to work except for some warnings
18:36 goehle its a webwork2 configuration error
18:36 aubreyja ah, found a missing Plack::Handler::FCGI
18:37 goehle well you will need that but it shouldn't prevent you from getting to webwork2
18:38 aubreyja yeah, that's true
18:38 aubreyja once this is done I'll switch back to master to confirm it's still working
18:38 goehle its a good plan
18:39 goehle I would make a new copy of both sites.conf webowork.apache2-config and localOverrides.conf and integrate your current stuff into it
18:39 aubreyja jeez plack::hanlder::fcgi is no joke
18:39 goehle yeah
18:39 goehle I use a package
18:40 aubreyja yeah, check it out now. works
18:42 goehle looks good tome
18:42 goehle I'm even getting dancer messages if I poke the right bits so fcgi works
18:42 aubreyja and back to ww3 it breaks
18:42 goehle ?
18:42 aubreyja exactly my thoughts
18:43 aubreyja notice that webwork.math.arizona.edu/ works, just not webwork2/
18:45 aubreyja here's some more data: http://pastebin.com/UN1xMsTF
18:46 goehle https://webwork.math.arizona.edu/webwork3/app-info
18:46 goehle well dancer and fcgi both work
18:46 goehle so its definitely a webwork config issue
18:47 goehle do you have two links pointing to webwork.apache2-config?
18:47 goehle in /etc/apache2 that is
18:47 goehle it looks like webwork is getting loaded twice for some reason
18:50 aubreyja I don't think so. The link is in conf.d/.  It's mentioned in sites-enabled/000-default, but just to redirect to https
18:52 goehle hmm.   and you updated webwork.apache2-config?
18:53 goehle so that its the same as the latest dist
18:53 aubreyja yeah, vimdiff shows no diffs
18:57 goehle anything suspicious when you restart apache?
18:57 aubreyja yeah, well I get all of those errors. I'm suspicious of those.
18:58 goehle I get the before/after redefine but I dont get any of the other ones
18:59 goehle you just did the fcgi and not both the fcgi and the proxy pass stuff?
18:59 goehle the instructions should be clearer that you only do the one
19:00 aubreyja yeah fcgi stuff
19:00 aubreyja only
19:00 aubreyja so, you don't get 'Unquoted string "boolean"...'
19:00 goehle no
19:00 goehle I just get the before/after redefine lines
19:00 goehle none of that stuff about redefining things in PGcore and whatnot
19:01 aubreyja hmph
19:01 aubreyja No 'Use of unitialized value $courseName...'
19:01 aubreyja Is your ww3 up to date?
19:01 goehle no, and thats super wierd
19:01 goehle yeah
19:01 goehle and I'm also using debian
19:02 aubreyja hmph...
19:02 aubreyja you're on master for pg too?
19:02 goehle pg is is on develop
19:03 aubreyja lemme try that...
19:03 goehle doesnt seem to matter for me
19:03 aubreyja yeah, didn't change anything
19:04 goehle well, if you have time you could try to move the webwork2 directory to webwork2-old
19:04 goehle make a new webwork2-ww3 directory and link it to webwork2
19:04 goehle and then do a fresh clone
19:04 aubreyja ok, good idea. I'll ping you when I have data - shouldn't take long
19:23 aubreyja same crap
19:24 goehle wierd
19:25 aubreyja now upgrading debian packages just for fun. who knows.
19:26 goehle it does sound like its your system
19:26 aubreyja yeah - you're on debian 7.4?
19:26 goehle umm
19:27 goehle 7.6
19:28 aubreyja interesting...I think I'll try ww_install on a fresh 7.4 to see what happens.  Seems like I've done that before and it went fine though.
19:29 goehle those manual instructions were never very good
19:29 goehle if ww_install works then I suspect the problem lies there
21:11 aubreyja goehle - works from ww_install basically (had to copy/edit webwork3.conf, change permissions on /tmp/dancer-sessions), but works...
