20:47 hij Hello, I have a question about reading csv files.
20:47 goehle whats your question
20:47 hij I started looking through the code, and there are references to reading old style lst files versus regular csv files.
20:47 hij I cannot find much about a general csv file as I look through the code.
20:47 hij Is it there or something under development?
20:48 goehle I think it may just be confused terminology
20:48 goehle .lst files are csv files
20:48 goehle with a particular order for the columns
20:48 hij Right.
20:48 hij When I started going through the perl code there were references to "old style lst" files versus just referring to "csv" files.
20:49 goehle could you show me where?
20:49 goehle its probably from really old ww stuff
20:49 goehle unless you are working with ww3 code
20:49 goehle that will deal with arbitrary csv files
20:50 hij Not off hand. I have installed webworks on my home computer and was playing around with the hopes of seeing what is involved in making a more general class uploader.
20:50 hij I only have the production code handy.
20:50 goehle you might check out ww3
20:50 goehle it may have what you are looking for
20:50 goehle it has a class uploader that takes an arbitrary csv file
20:50 hij I will try to search for it...
20:50 goehle and you assign columns names
20:50 * hij nods
20:51 hij Right. That is what I would like to see in webwork.
20:51 goehle https://github.com/openwebwork/webwork2/wiki/Upgrade-to-WeBWorK3
20:52 hij Do you know for sure if it has it?
20:52 goehle yes
20:52 hij okay, that makes things a bit easier.....
20:52 hij I will take a peek, thank you!
20:52 goehle np
20:53 goehle WW3 is where we are encouraging people to add  new ui features
20:53 goehle https://github.com/openwebwork/webwork2/wiki/Developing-for-WeBWorK3
20:53 hij We will not be able to make any change, though, until after the upcoming semester. Right now we upgraded and want it stable and working.
20:53 goehle WW3 should get into master at the end of this summer, I think
20:53 * hij nods
20:53 hij That makes it even easier. :-)
