18:07 Rick_ Hello. I have a couple questions regarding WebWork
18:07 Rick_ I was asked to install it on our campus, but don't know anything about it. I work in IT and our math professor is asking for it.
18:08 Rick_ I would need to know what the resources needed for this software would be, including ports, etc.
18:08 Rick_ How much RAM, HDD, Processor power, etc.
18:08 Rick_ any help would be greatly appreciated
18:14 Rick_ Looking on the website, I see documentation relating to the installation of the software, but nothing telling me ports that need to be open in the firewall, nor any resource documentation.
18:21 hotdogs just web ports (80/443)
18:22 hotdogs the one I'm running is two cores, 3GB RAM, and is barely using any disk right now, but ours is pretty small
18:25 Rick_ 80/443, got it...this professor was talking about quad core 2.5ghz, 1TB drive space and 32 GB RAM minimum...that caused me to go into a panic because we do everything virtualized and that would hammer us.
18:26 Rick_ Thank you...
18:33 Rick_ left #webwork
18:34 hotdogs well, it runs in apache, so more ram = more procs
18:35 hotdogs each one tends to get to around ~200mb or more
18:35 hotdogs but if you don't have many students, you'd be fine with a smaller pool
